Author Topic: The War on GMO (Genetically Modified Organism Foods  (Read 3789 times)

you'd have to eat 2 bananas everyday for 357 years to be affected by it's radioactive isotope.

Example of GMO:

"This corn makes more seeds, I should breed it so I can get more corn"

"This corn makes more seeds, I should breed it so I can get more corn"

Literally only Riddler would do something that horrific.

But guys, if we make more food for everyone then there won't be any more starving kids in Africa.

no one cares about africa except for their precious elements that no one bothers to go collect.

Example of GMO:

"This corn makes more seeds, I should breed it so I can get more corn"
"This corn makes more seeds, these seeds are sterile."

"This corn makes more seeds, these seeds are sterile."
I'm pretty sure not every genetically modified thing is sterile. But maybe I missed something here.

Literally only Riddler would do something that horrific.

Since when being scelective about which corn you breed anything like a Riddler-esque mindset?

YayFun you are an idiot.

Why are people so anti-GMO? Is it because it sounds scary? I really dont see how making crops larger and be more durable is a negative thing.

godwin's law + sarcasm

health freaks are nuts
literally if you're just changing one sequence of dna to make a plant disease resistant or have more nutrients doesn't mean it's going to then grow hair or a richard lol
i mean, stuff, it's literally all just chemical sequences determined by five damn chemicals

and another thing to back up dooble's point
insulin for diabetics is produced by bacterium which have the human gene inserted into their plasmid
previously insulin had to be obtained from animals which is dangerous in itself from how easily it could just be contaminated
what threat is there in a lab setting? plus, you don't have to sacrifice an animal for it either which they'd get a boner about anyway
plus it can be produced much more easily and plentifully which ACTUALLY loving HELPS PEOPLE unlike this goddamn health food craze
honestly forget those crazy bastards chemicals all day

I don't take any pharmaceutical medicine unless I really need to. In the past about 5 years I've only took one prescription, and it was an antibiotic. Other than that I treat everything naturally, so far I've been successful. My cousin is also switching to natural because the medicine he's on is doing more damage than good.

There is nothing "good" about synthetic medicine.
What's the difference between a 'synthetic' and a 'natural' molecule exactly?

There's plenty of good things about pharmaceutical medicine. For one, it's the primary reason why the human life expectancy has increased dramatically over the last few hundred years. If these 'natural' remedies that people have used for thousands of years are so effective at keeping people alive, please explain this:

I think you need to learn the difference between case-based and scientific reasoning. Just because you, a single person, haven't had any serious health issues without taking pharmaceutical medicine doesn't mean that your case is typical.

This.

The human body metabolizes proteins as food. They're broken down in the small intestine into their constituent amino acids. After a protein is denatured, it no longer functions. Therefore, just because the genome of corn is changed to make it resistant to pesticides doesn't mean that the protein will cause health problems. It's metabolized the same way any other protein is.

what im really waiting for is when they start to grow real animal cells in labaratories
so yeah we stop torturing cows and chickens and we can make infinite amount of meat with no bad effects

yes exactly
it ends up as a win-win situation then
