Author Topic: what do you guys think about the new xbox one?  (Read 3288 times)

Also how is Xbox having pay-required Netflix a bloody feature? That's stuff compared to PS4's.
keyword being 'but'

To begin with, how is watching TV through your console... on your Tv... a benefit?
some people like watching tv without having to have a different box - it's convenience, fair enough if you don't like it as a benefit but it is for some people

Also you listed Blu-Ray player on both, if you are going to make comparisons you are supposed to show things that are different, not similar.
sorry i don't read the rules of comparison
p sure i said i was listing benefits - is the blu ray player not a benefit?

seriously is it really necessary to criticize that post for those type of small things? i'd understand if you were actually disagreeing with the features (such as the tv being a benefit or not) but honestly there's no point in saying about things such as the blu-ray player other than just being a pain :P
it's not like it's directly affecting you or anyone else and really it's just a piece of info for people that might buy the consoles in the fact that they both have blu-ray players - it's needed even more so in the fact that last gen xbox didn't have a blu-ray player so some people might not think it was one when it does, and if i list it for xbox i gotta list it for ps4 to

so using yet another box (xbox) serves this purpose better?

but if they use their xbox for everything that means they can throw out their regular tv box, does it not?

i'm not saying i'd personally ever use it - just saying for the odd person they might like it

no. you need a tv box to get the reception. thats how even basic cable works these days.
it would be plugged THOUGH the xbox, you would be adding yet another box to the stack just to have to use the cable remote anyways.

are you sure?
i thought streaming live tv without a box or reception was a thing now - hell sky even has an ios app that lets you stream tons of channels through the wifi
even my 360 stream stuff like cartoon network without being plugged into anything but the socket
maybe it's only like this in the uk? sure you still need a sky/whatever tv provider you want subscription but they couldn't care less if you use their box or not.

It's region locked to 21 countries.

It does online checks every 24 hours. If it can't connect, no games for you.

Kinect must be plugged in and monitoring your every move.

No used games or game sharing.

It's more expensive than the PS4.

The first reason alone should be enough to not buy it.

I used to play so much on the PS3, but I don't really play on it anymore, and I don't feel so hyped up about these upcoming gaming consoles. I'll stick to PC.

also recommended is a minimum 1.5 mBps u/d for any internet connected activities, because of the sheer amount of bullstuff they have running.

no no no
The built-in connect is always on like HAL from 2001 and is always recording video and sound nononono

ps4 come and save me

JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING, FREEK?

I'm on the fence about it. I would only get it because i wouldn't want to be left in the dark on an xbox360 but here is a few things i dug up to give it a "fighting chance".

- The xbox one is in all in one package entertainment system. Sure the starting cost is $500 but you can do almost anything which means it draws in more various people who maybe enjoy watching movies or listening to music more often than playing games. I use netflix 80% of my time on my 360.

- It requires an internet connection to play. So what? Do you live in the stone age? Are you a caveman and do not have internet? Is there really anyone in your neighborhood that you know of that doesn't have internet?

- licences for games to play. Now this one pretty much sucks and there is really no good rebuttal for this one. I agree it sucks that you have to pay for a license for every game but that also means games are going to be cheaper to buy...(you just can't share them with friends)

costs too much, for too little. even though i'm a pc guy, if i was to buy a console it'd have to be a ps4. my $50 digital tv set-top-box can do everything the xbox one can bar play games, so i hardly see how that's a ground breaking feature.

Why don't you go out and count all the countries/states that are annually facing natural disasters like thunderstorms in which a trees could fall on power lines and cut off the electricity from an entire city? What kind of an age we live in if people actually accept the fact that our furniture decide to brick themselves when they aren't fed electricity constantly.

The PS4 has the same features of netflix, I also believe reading it'll cost extra money to watch on Xbox One and have no extra fee on the PS4

People's internet connections DO go out believe it or not, I've had no internet for a few days plenty of times, at which point I'd just switch over to my console which I'd now be unable to do.

I doubt the price will drop honestly but that's to be determined upon release.
