Name: Axel Thrane
Backstory: Professional Assassin, Master Thief, and Thrill Seeker Axel Thrane was born to a middle class family and had a pretty average childhood with a stable home life. Why he became an Assassin is a complete mystery.

Characteristics:  While somewhat maniacal and dark during missions, Axel is generally laid back and "cool as a cucumber" while off the job. Smart, charismatic and witty, he can weasel his way into and out of situations. He tends to keep a trophy for each of his "big kills". Axel kills by contract or out of sheer will. His usual targets include politicians who make terrible decisions, corrupt government officials, wealthy aristocrats who abuse their wealth or pirates. He kills pirates for fun. Pirates aren't classy and give the universe a bad name. Along with enjoying long walks on the beach and Black and White movies, He also steals priceless artifacts, art, relics, and anything else worth money. Of course he isn't selling it, he just stashes it on some planet somewhere. He kind of has a hording problem. Its said that the coordinates of his stash are engraved on the inside of his helmet, which he wears during missions.

He joined the crew of the Respite after reading the statement,  which he may or may not have stolen off of a computer terminal, about how the Torium lost contact after finding something important. He stopped reading at "Something important" and immediately signed up. Also adventure is fun!

Axel specializes in Sniper Rifles and Pistols, He also can punch people pretty good.

Name: Barik

Backstory: A member of an almost exstinct race of insectoids. Barik was a mercenary and gun for hire for a couple of years until he dropped to a life of crime. He was a high rank in the mob underworld for a while. He recently found work on the Respite.

Characteristics: Has two mandibles on either side of mouth. Can work out problems and equations in his head quite well. Uses a heavy customized pistol. Resembles a prawn from District 9. Can breath well in most atmospheres due to how different his species respitory system is from other species.

Personality: Not well at socializing. Very judgmental of other species. Some people can find him disgusting or creepy.

there's tons of people

start adventure

Read OP
i realized it before you even told me

dayum i'm an idiot

there's tons of people

start adventure
tingalz has 14 but i'll start putting together an update.

not that i haven't already.

i lied.

Tired of waiting, you and your first mate, Welkins, head to the bridge.

: ...This crew better be a good set. I heard the Torium had trouble with their own crew from launch, not
to say of the other expeditionary ships.
: I looked over the roster. I'd say we have a pretty diverse group, should be enough to handle any
planetary confederations we come across. Pirates, too.
: Any update on the situation off-planet?
: Our ships are still handling the Vyring attackers. They've been using our asteroid belt as defense.
The Lumere has reports of a portable repair station being set up there, but our forces
should be fine. Ourselves, however...
: Hopefully we'll get support while heading for the jumpgate. The Vyring scum aren't
tough, but from the reports this isn't just a small attack.

: Officer, what's the status?
: The crew's on board, sir, but the status out there doesn't look so great.

Purple ^: Destination (jumpgate)
Blue: Allies. Ship strength increases from lightest to darkest.
Green:
The Respite

: The EM flux from the double primaries is preventing us from using our FTL drivers safely. We might
be able to pull it off, but our drive's pretty old and we can't risk losing this ship.
: Looks like we'll have to give this ship a go. Nothing like shooting down some enemies, eh?
: ...Have our superiors spared us any backup?
: Only a frigate, sir. Which direction will we take?

Left to the asteroid field, right to Oskaath, or risk FTL travel through the double primaries? If you take the primaries your ally frigate will not be able to go with you.

note: i will offer little to no plot armor since only then we can see the result of some seriously bad rolls (at least for now)

Right seems like the best way to go.

I have an update ready but my router is being a richard and refusing to work => can't upload photos from computer

: Chart a course to Oskaath.
: Yes, sir.

You leave Viro just as the first attack arrives.

...and run  into a Vyring Sideguard hiding an Ambusher under its signature.

: Bring up Vyring ship specs.
: ...Vyring Sideguards have 19 HP, 7 armor, and 2 shields, and typically mount 6 energy weapons.
Ambushers have 13 HP, 6 armor, and 1 shield, and mount 6 energy weapons as well.
