Author Topic: Should police ticket Skateboarders for not skating in a skate park  (Read 1316 times)

I think police should I've encountered many frustrations with them and it has other stuff that is concerning. First, I was driving home when two morons had a pipe to grind on setup in the street so I had to go around them. They are in a place meant for cars not pipes and skateboards. Second, two kids where skateboarding in the street out near a jimmy johns I was in and they held cars up and they did nothing  just kept on skateboarding slowly not even getting off the street then eventually cleared the car after holding up at least 2 cars for 2-5 minutes. Third, skateboarding damages property in someways when doing tricks. 4th, there is a large percent of skateboarders who go to the hospital for broken bones and I can't remember the exact number but it was in the thousands.

What is your thoughts?

I think it depends. I don't think it's reasonable to ticket someone for skateboarding on a public sidewalk as transportation, but if they're doing tricks or whatever where people are walking, that's not good.

if it's on private property or someone's home, or indoors like a mall etc, yes..

sidewalks, etc, no way.

But What do you think it's transportation but like when I said it was in the street blocking cars or causing cars to go to the other side of the street to go around them. They saw me driving and waiting for them to move their stuff but they just continued on to skateboard (not to mention there is skate park about two blocks away).

Anyone wearing a bullstuff red and black flannel sweatshirt with a crooked hat should be v&. /s

longboarding is a super useful mode of transportation in my town, so i wouldn't agree

in that case I think they should get off the roads.

firstly because teenagers are edgy and they drip with angst and they hate helmets, no helmet + hit by car = dead

lastly because of what you just said - no one wants to wait for these idiots to move out of the way. and no one wants to be responsible for an accident because they had to swerve out of the way.

Before I step out of this debate for a while (other stuff I need to do) I want to sum my up in this.
I don't hate skateboarding I just think there is times where they should get a ticket like when they block vehicles or property damage.

I take a shortcut through a neighborhood on my way home from work and often am held up by kids with ramps and rails in the street. It's quite annoying.

i dont think anyone under 18 should be outside past 6pm
nor outside during business hours of 8-5pm
nor at the malls ever

As long as they aren't being douchebags I have no problem with them. They should just stay out of the street when cars are passing.

I feel the same way about cyclists, they should not be on the road either.

Lol You sounds like a grumpy old man.
I say let em. Maybe they could be shooed away by the cops if they're causing that much of a disruption, but other than that it's totally cool.
