Running is definitely good. Just like with anything make sure you get good form down before you go crazy. My cardio consists of running, bicycling, swimming, and some jump rope here and there. Hopefully in the next couple years I'll be ready to do a big boy triathlon in a decent time.

I completely forgot about swimming. I really need to start working out.

I messed up my mountain bike last fall. The cable is jacked and the rear derailleur is messed up and stays stuck in seventh so I can only choose between 7th, 14th, and 21st gear. The frame and wheels are still in good shape though. I'll eventually get some new gear for it so I can go trail riding with friends.

Right now though I'm saving up to get a decent road bike I can use for training and commuting to school.

Both rims were bent and all the gears were messed up. I managed to ruin the bike but walked away with no harm.

You've got to have muscles on your muscles.

Joining a gym is prooobably your best bet. Without money, you can't really buy all of what you need. By the way, if you ever run into some cash - don't prioritize your upper body. Work your body equally.
i'd rather not, i know it's my best bet and all, but i find it a bit awkward and embarrassing. could i do some traditional ways of working out, while getting more fit at the same time? i do not have enough money or make enough to join a gym either, all the gyms in my area are priced around 24.79 to 39.99.

Are you graduated from high school? Does your school have a gym you can use? In my high school the gym was open to whoever wanted to use it not just the sports teams.

You can make one out of PVC pipe no joke for a bodyweight gym at your house

Just went for a 6 mile bike ride down to the Library to get a summer reading book which they didnt have and then to the local country store

yeah i forgot about that, my school does have a gym, not open during the summer however. i could try that during the school year, but right now it's not possible.

i'll look up some sort of tutorial or what not.

still wanting to know though if i can do anything at home to get fit, pushups, squats, crunches, etc. there's a park nearby where i can do other activities as well.

Do you want a straightforward answer from me? If you want to look fit, you're probably gonna need to get over that.

Truth is that you can do all of those things if you want to lose weight or get a bit fitter. I don't know what kind of body you're looking to get. For gaining a lot of muscle, those won't last you more than a month until they're too easy and you need to add weight. Squats without weight won't be very beneficial for you.

well i can barely do four pushups. so i think doing workouts at home will be more beneficial to me at the moment now. any sort of routine you recommend?

Just keep practising the crunches and pushups and pullups. When you're at this stage, pushups and the like are very useful so just do 20 every day or something.

Tomorrow I'm planning to go to my schools  gym,  I don't want to have the whole $400 in fees to be a waste. For cardio does it matter if I mix it up like with strength training? I really want to build endurance in running so would like a stationary bike or a treadmill be a good workout? I've heard that a rowing machine is really good so I might get that in there. Doe anyone have any recommendations as to a plan? I'm really out of shape but I've always had not completely awful endurance.

mmmmm mussles

I know that its usually recommended to do your cardio after weightlifting sessions

I plan on competing in bodybuilding a few years time, but nothing major. Just competitions locally.
you said you never intended on doing competitions a while back, what changed your mind?
