Author Topic: Looking for a headset for music and gaming  (Read 2130 times)

I'm not. Mostly PC gaming for me. I do however want to get an Xbox in the future for the sake of having access to the Halo games

I wouldn't buy an Xbox for the purpose of playing Halo games, don't get me wrong Halo 3 was a superb game but it's single player campaign lacks replay value, and it's online community is almost completely dead. And any game after Halo 3 in the Halo series aren't worth playing in my opinion.

I thought Halo had PC versions?
Right?

1 and 2 were the only games in the series released for Windows

What exactly was the reason they stopped releasing them for windows? Was it Piracy concerns?

Probably because they knew that if they didn't port the game to windows, they would sell more Xboxs.

It wouldn't cause that big of a difference, but I can see what you're saying with this.

It actually did boost the sales of the Xbox 360, Halo was a big title and a lot of people(mainly PC gamers) were anxious for another game in the series, by making it an Xbox 360 exclusive more people were inclined to buy an Xbox just to play it. You should also keep in mind that Microsoft owned Bungie Studios, a company with a reputation for being extremely greedy.

Bought this yesterday at best buy and i loving love it.

Its really nice not having a cord and for $100 you can't go wrong

Try a SteelSeries. I use their (currently) second least expensive one, the 4H. A lot of people I know use the Siberia V2, and a lot of professional DotA/CS players use them. They're more durable than the 4H.

Do not buy turle beach px3

They are ridiculous pieces of stuff

They will beep at you every 5 seconds if no other sound is being played, the on/off button is an obnoxious 5 second hold, it requires an insane amount of little wires and hookups to work, basically useless for any kind of mobile device, doesn't support audio jacks, and the ps3 setup is roundabout and unnecessarily complex involving 3 different cords connecting to your ps3.  The ps3 supports one usb doing both stereo sound and microphone input, but the px3 decides to separate those out to 3 different places.  The reception is also pretty bad in comparison to the big wireless box that you have to set up to use them.

On a slightly more positive side, though, the battery life is pretty good on them.

get a pair of awesome sennheisers and modmic them.

best way for music AND gaming.

yes

what you need is good headphones and some cheap desk mic

You should get Beats, they are better than any other headset brand on the market :)

One of my friends has them and let me try them, they sound like stuff compared to my headset which was way cheaper. The bass was enforced so much to the point where it blurs out the song and makes your ears hurt.

Get the Turtle Beach PX22. I just got mine this week. It's awesome. Sound is perfect, big speakers, it's got adjustments for bass, treble, voice chat, game sounds, etc. Mic is really good quality with multiple options. Very simple to use. 80 bucks, so not the cheapest, but it's compatible with the PC, Xbox and PS3. If you want an all-around headset for under 100 bucks then definitely get it.

-Edit- And you can unplug the headset individually so that it isn't plugged into the volume control/sound settings box (Which is compact, so it isn't bulky) and plug just the headset into your phone so you can call people, listen to music, etc.

It comes with plenty of cord, so you definitely will have enough unless you game in a movie theater and like the back seat.

Bottom line, it's not too expensive, reliable, very good quality, compatible with any console, PC, or cell phone with a headphone jack, and it's easy to use.

If you buy a turtle beach headset you will not be able to use it for phones, ipods, tablets, or anything without a usb port.  And forget laptops, you aren't going to be carrying around all the wireless receiver crap with you.
