Author Topic: Mario Numbers  (Read 711 times)

Made this today because it seemed like a good idea and a neat thing to share. Imgur jpg'd it, but eh, no big loss. Might need to scroll to see the whole thing, depending on your monitor size.

Do an arrow off of Simon Belmont pointing to the game "New International Track & Field" with Frogger pointing to that game.

A while ago i was thinking about this, but instead of thinking what games connect to each other and what their number is, i was thinking about how many universes we can connect to each other. If we don't count Smash Bros games, we can connect all the Nintendo characters together trough some easter eggs (Samus appearing in a kirby game, Link & Samus appear in Super Mario RPG, so on).

I think GameTheory has an episode dedicated to this subject.

If we take all media to count, we can even connect Inspector Gadget to Mario since IG had a guest starring in the Super Mario Super Show.

I'm not adding to the "Basic Chart" any more, but feel free to continue deducing your own Mario Numbers.  I guess this make's Frogger's number 3.

With certain games such as Marvel vs Capcom and Street Fighter x Megaman, you can count Ryu as a 2 from Mega Man.

Marvel vs Capcom, certainly, but Street Fighter x Mega Man is not a commercially-released video game, even if it is supported by Capcom.  If we allowed fan games, we might as well make everyone's Mario Number 1.

Speaking of Marvel vs Capcom, though, I suppose that probably makes quite a few Marvel superheroes 2's.

On another note, I hate it when ninja edit expires and you're not done yet.

Holy stuff the Heavy was in a sonic game?

He was on the PC version of All Stars Racing Transformed.

Mario (and Sonic but nobody cares) were going to appear in Turrican 3 as an easter egg, dunno if that would count.

It has to be an in-the-flesh appearance to count.  This means cameos and easter eggs are fine, as long as it's not just a picture or a doll or something.  Heck, Sam only appears in Poker Night at the Inventory in the background on your way in, but it was in-person, so I counted it.  It sure made the chart a bit simpler, anyway.
