Are next gen consoles HDMI only?

Ive been wondering about this, and heard a few sources say it was, but were not very reliable. Is this true? Because I dont have an HD TV and would still like to use my current one.

Well not everyone cares about graphics really, I use my old SD TV and it works just fine with my PS3, that doesn't mean I'll be using it when I get a PS4 but I wouldn't see a problem getting a next gen console and using it with it.

I emailed a press contact at Sony, and I asked “Can you confirm or deny brown townog-AV out support with the PS4?” Not long afterward, I received a clear and concise answer in the affirmative. The Sony representative said “The information on our website is correct.” So, as it stands, Sony has officially confirmed to ExtremeTech that brown townog output will be supported with the PS4.

If you can't afford both you shouldn't be paying for high-end gaming equipment. Those 70 dollar games are going to end you.

I know, but I haven't really seen a 350 dollar TV that is 1080p, Smart LED LCD (I like it alot)  and is big enough to see from far away (that's why a 57' TV fits my needs). Also I thought the Xbox One was 500 dollars (saying if I was a Xbox fan).

I thought the Xbox One games were 60 dollars not 70 dollars, I don't see how it is high-end yet so far I don't see a Xbox One Premium or something. Don't get me wrong they are expensive though is point. especially for a middle-income(?) house hold
