Author Topic: Top down view, auto see through roofs  (Read 1531 times)

Not sure if this is possible, but:
It would be awesome to have a top down player type where, upon entering a building, the roof and any floors above the player can be seen through.
If the player goes up a flight of stairs, the floor becomes visible as their head emerges above it.
I'm guessing that this is impossible, but I did a search and it appears no one has asked, so I am asking now.
Please tell me this can be done. QQ

it can be done but it'd look really goofy in multiplayer

Not if you could edit the client-sided properties of objects... Can you? I don't think so.

You can.

Sorry about raising this from the dead but I forgot about this until my friend reminded me of Alien Swarm lol.

So who could legitimately help me with this?

it can be done by setting raycasting off brick that will cover the view of the player, but this can take up a lot of time

Yeah and plus I would want levels with multiple stories.

Make a zone brick in the entrance, and have it so when they enter the room, it turns off rendering for the roof bricks. This would only work with a one floor building, though.
