it is a start of a new saga, and the end of the series, but anyways valve confirmed the episodes were done with after ep. 2
Well Half-life 1 and all of it's expansions were about the black mesa incident and the xen aliens attacking. Half-life 2 is about the combine invasion. So I'd Half-life 3 would be a new story, not be about Gordan fighting the combine.

The Portal 2 arg did this multiple times to hint at when a clue would appear, such as at the game developer awards or w/e.
