The threat is more of "Hey we don't trust you guys, so were going to watch you to make sure you aren't a danger to us. We're just going to shorten the leash." Their is no need to up security, the internet is too vast to control. Rather than searching for terrorist son Skype and Facebook, focus efforts of the physical threats. Last time I checked it is easy to cross the border from Mexico into the US. If marijuana and cocaine can make it easily over, than so can a bomb of sorts. For those random honor students, make the penalties for murder higher so that most people will rethink twice before pulling the trigger. Also if there is suspected terrorism going on, then the website owner should tell the authorities "Hello, I am seeing suspicious activity from this user. I need you to check it out." works just the same as calling the police in real life and the FBI gets a warrant to check that suspect out.
Also remember how Obama said he would get rid of the Patriot and made a big deal about how there are no short cuts to protecting America. Now he is saying that we have to forget all of that and just accept it.
Also if we are at war with terrorists, the Geneva convention still applies. So all that waterboarding that went on in Guantanamo Bay should be treated as a war crime. Also the fact that no one prosecuted for it also makes me upset.
If we let the government to continue to do stuff like this and just accept it then the whole point of the American Revolution lost all meaning and we should have just remained a British colony.
