Author Topic: I'm not sure if I should reupgrade to windows 8.  (Read 2398 times)

Yeah I guess so. :\ I feel Windows 8 is made for phones, tablets, and touch screen computers.

I did read it. I read it before I upgraded to windows 8. Borderlands 2 runs slower on windows 8. Not much but if you put it on an intel hd 3000 it really changes.

It runs slow because all of Intel's GMAs run slow.

It ran fairly well under windows 7 and now it lags every so often when I use some weps. AKA windows 8.

"because my opinions are always right"

It's your own choice, try to balance the goods and the bads of reupgrading to Windows 8
he's asking for everyones opinion

From a level-headed PoV, "lags every so often" sounds more like an issue with another application utilizing your hard drive more than an issue with the operating system.

Ok. If I use some weps it lags. If some stuff appears it lags. It is windows 8s problem. I made a new char and it lagged under windows 8. On my first char it didn't lag.

No, it's not. You don't seem to understand that there are a million different things that could be affecting your performance. For all I know, your drive could be fragmented, or that you've been infected by some sort of virus that uses your computer for various activities (see zombie computer.) There's just too many variables to label the operating system at fault.

Its been like this ever since I've upgraded from windows 7. My computer de-fragments every few days and I virus check almost every day.

If you ran "Upgrade" instead of freshly installing, that could be another factor. I reiterate,

I understand but I have a an intel hd 3000 that runs ok with stuff. Since windows 8 has been installed things have been slower and crap. I want my windows 7 ;_;.

imo windows 8 is amazing

my computer that i bought came with a superior graphics card than my old one, i can actually play portal 2 and stuff like that. steam works perfectly, i can play games, it's much faster, easy to get used to, and i dont even have a touch screen and it's just fine for me!

EDIT: the only reason people say they hate it is likely because of all the fake crap all over the internet about windows 8

you CAN use steam!
you CAN play games!
you CAN modify core files!

I've had a really good experience with windows 8.

More on-topic, I don't think you'll need to buy anything to play DVD's. If you end up having issues playing DVD's, first try installing VLC media player. If VLC says you're missing a codec, go search online for "Free DVD codecs".

Secure boot isn't all that important. Unless you're worried about people trying to get on your computer with Konboot or something, it's not really necessary.
