A series of mech vehicles that don't suck and are totally rad similar to racer's old ones but they don't get knocked about so much and be way more formidable with cool yet simple weapons and animations.
Light, heavy, and normal variants with different weapons, up, size and mass. Light ones are quick but get murdered by knockback, heavy ones are slow, and normal is between the two.
Another idea
A beam katana weapon with high and low attacks that work like the mechanics from no more heroes. High and low attacks, a lock on system so you can low or heavy attack and move closer to the nearest enemy, high and low blocking (eg if an enemy is blocking low hit him with high attacks.) all attacks have 5 hit combos but you cannot mix and match the two. Low attacks are slow and powerful and high attacks are fast and weak. High and low charging attacks should be in there too. These leave you vulnerable to getting hit but do powerful attacks. A low charge should home in on your target and a high attack should be a fast projectile.
Guns and any weapons that use projectiles (like other beam katanas high attacks) should be deflected by a high block always.
All of this should be backed up with cool weapon animations (maybe with hands, for two handed swings and because hands actually do look rad on swords but not guns in blockland) so you have clear visual indicators of what your opponent is doing. High attacks should have blue tracers and low attacks should have red ones so you can easily react. When blocking high the sword should glow blue and when blocking low it should glow red.
