Yes, its slow as stuff
You may be using software rendering instead of hardware (GPU) rendering.

Otherwise, there are so many choices you have for different desktop environments.

^

In addition to eating up CPU and RAM like hell, it's extremely heavyweight and barely customizable.
I went right to Xfce (Lubuntu) because there was hardly any customization.

Xubuntu is loving amazing

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Lubuntu LXDE and not XFCE?

Yes it is, just install another desktop environment or skinning tool.  This is why the distro debate is stupid and pointless.

Whenever I think of gentoo, I just think of this.  :cookieMonster:

I was pointing out why Unity was stupid. Saying Unity is customizable by not using Unity is some pretty broken logic.

Then you have to specify that you're talking about Unity in the first place.  I didn't know you were talking about Unity.

is there any way to fix this I'm loving sick of it
whenever I do the snap feature on xubuntu it does this and only covers half the screen its annoying

I used to have that problem a lot, but I forget how to fix it.

First time using awesome wm, and...

...Well, it's definitely interesting.

I've been wanting to either try out Manjaro or Fedora, I really like gnome, I know nothing about pacman, but I know about yum, and yum is awful. What should I go with

bump because I'm uninstalling windows
What distro should I get? I'm not too experianced with linux but I know a good amount about it

Mint (MATE) or Debian.
I went back to try Ubuntu and I only lasted probably 4 hours before I got sick of every issue that came up. I also had 1,655 packages installed before i removed about 700 unneeded ones.
Cooling fans were going nuts, Compiz wasn't working very well until I installed Unity, and it went to stuff again after I removed it, and a bunch of other crap; slow as hell too.
Was also locked out of the root account, no idea why.

so get Mint or Debian, do not deal with Ubuntu if you at least have some idea with what you're doing. Debian's installer is literally the same as Ubuntu's Minimal installer. It's CLI but it's quite user-friendly.
