i think fedora is cool
i installed apt-get on it so i don't have to use yum anymore
but yeah i didn't really see any problems with yum. i installed steam and google-chrome very easily
no offence but why do you judge a distro by its looks

edit lol, but
ugh i'm getting tired of explaining it. every linux distro i've tried is much better than windows, so why should i care about performance or anything

because i can
well if you judge a distro by its looks its going to get you no where especially when you change it every other day
install gentoo

week bump
should I remove ubuntu and go with either A. Xubuntu or B. Try to figure out to install arch since I have never odne it and install xfce

If you just need something that works, Xubuntu.

If you want a nice (but possibly painful) learning experience, Arch.

Learning experience as in "I've learned that I should never install that again."  :cookieMonster:  I honestly don't understand the appeal of Arch though, why spend so much time to get up and running on a desktop?

I just reinstalled Ubuntu 13.04 from Elementary 0.2 today for Natural Selection 2.  Gotta say, I miss Pantheon's launcher and the lack of unnecessary applications.  Way better to have the later kernel version and UEFI support though. And it's nice to have the Ambiance theme.  Mostly that.

Oh, and NS2 has a hell of a time running on my system.

Hey guys! Anyone think they can recommend me a new distro?

I've been sitting on Ubuntu since I built my new computer, as it does everything I need it to and I'm familiar with it. Problem is, my computer has really slowed down lately and I'm thinking about making the change to something better. Not very Linux-savvy though, so I have nowhere to start. :p

I want something reliable that I can stay with long-term.

Debian is really stable. I like Xubuntu too, if you want something lightweight with the ubuntu software center.

Guys, Manjaro is a nice Arch experience that has a cool themed Xfce4 and better repo's than Arch itself. It has a nice guided graphical installer. Works out of the box. It has a very nice wiki, looks very proffessional, I'm using it myself.
OH AND ALSO

you do realize the reason people use arch is because you build it from the ground up, to get exactly what you want. nothing more, nothing less. manjaro doesn't have an "arch experience", but whatever, I'll still add it later since you asked me to

bump

dunno if this is really linux discussion, but has anyone looked at the Ubuntu Edge yet?
