if you want a distro that's like mac then get Pear Linux
and yes, if you watch Nickelodeon, then yes, they actually named it Pear Linux

i personally don't like gnome 3, i'd rather go with KDE. openSuse has a cool KDE experience
elementary os is a distro that i recommend that is similar to ubuntu, but without the supposedly "crappy" unity environment.

unity isnt crap, if you remove all the features, forget with the compiz and customize it, it looks nice

Wait, a Linux application store even exists? If so, I'm installing a distribution now.

Are a lot of the softwares free? Also are there games on either E-stores? Also Nal thank you for all of the information on Linux! You have given me so much information, and have enticed me positively to get it. I'll get my brother to install it for me sometime.

Most newbie friendly distros will have a software center for installing programs, and yes a few games too. Ubuntu Software Center is probably the biggest, and I think(?) Elementary uses the Ubuntu Software Center as well.

it does

aren't arch linux bugs a wonderful experience

Hey guys, for some reason whenever I try to launch Garry's mod, I get this error:
"This application requires either the GL-EXT_texture_compression-s3tc, or the GL_EXT_texture_compression_dx t1 + GL_ANGLE_texture_compression_ dxt3 + GL_ANGLE_texture_compression_ dxt5 OpenGL extentions. Please install S3TC texture support"
How do I install these packages?

You likely don't have any proprietary drivers installed. It should have a list under "Additional Hardware" for Ubuntu.
Just a heads up but I haven't used Ubuntu in almost a year and a half now. I may not be correct.

not anymore, they moved it to "software sources" (or something like it).

What distro should I install on my old computer
Antergos or Mint?

When I install elementary, it goes to the location screen on install, gets stuck, and doesnt go any farther. What can I do?
