Author Topic: Blockland: A Not-So-Safe Game Anymore  (Read 8146 times)

hyaku didn't say that he didn't like the game though
Yeah well, he's pretty much bitching about the forums and the game in the drama, so it kinda looks like he doesn't like it anymore.

The only reason they stick at this and cause problems is for the attention people like Hyaku give them. By making this topic you're only perpetuating the problem and making yourself look like an idiot in the process.

Fun fact: There's a 'wall hack' that isn't a code injection. Someone (I think it was Port but I'm not sure) told me a global variable that causes every player you've ghosted to show up as a diamond.

Hyaku
Just stop.
Badspot said a certain thing.
"If you don't like the game, stop playing."

Stop complaining if you don't like this game anymore.
I love blockland
This just makes me think about things

Every single online gaming community in existence has had it's hackers and otherwise troublesome members. Blockland is not in any irreversible danger.

While this is true, that doesn't mean individuals attacked will be reversible. Like badspots docier on JazZ, all his personal information.
He said his email got compromised and he is shaming his family after being attacked by bullies.
You can't just say sorry and move on from stuff like that.

Ah yes, THAT'S what it was

With the black market release of a sketchy and copyright infringing code, this could contain malicious code with info stealing capabilities.
for the last time the hack is not malicious

This was moved from gen discussion.
I'm not trying to be bitchy, I am just wondering how safe we really are as individuals

The docier was posted so we could have a clear understanding of what was going on with the factual side of the JazZ drama. If you're worried about people finding your information, you have that risk everywhere you go on the internet. You have that risk when you sign up for any forum or online application. Blockland is no less secure than any other forum or social website on the internet.

Thank you

I saw, and while that guy seems like a real jerk, he was still left to deal with all these people with his email.
I know the risk is the same everywhere but it seems like there are more malevolent/hacking-intelligent/mean people here.
You don't have this problem in cooking forums.

I don't get how you all make a big deal about it. All kind of programs have flaws. It doesn't surprise me, that someone actually attempted to really get into modifieing Blockland.exe.

I'm imagining the endless fight between Badspot and the exploiters. (Not hacking. Hacking is a bit different from exploiting. However, the advantages you receive from it are the same, of course) And you can trust me, exploiters, hackers, or whatever will always find a way. And I mean the "serious" exploiters and hackers, not the trolls that pretend to have hacking tools. I'm actually talking about the real guys, who are really doing this. They will find a way, trust me. It doesn't matter how you patch something. They find a way. But of course, they will have to be creative in this case, as Blockland runs on a game engine, that uses a client-server architecture. If that wouldn't be the case, you could easily hack/exploit this game by just using your mind and some basic programming knowledge. But I'm happy, that's not the case.

Better you get evidence of the person exploiting or hacking, post it to Badspot and Badspot just revokes the key.
And again for those who still think that hacking a game or exploiting a game is impossible;
An old principle:
"Everything is dual, everything has two poles, and everything has its opposite. All manifested things have two sides, two aspects, or two poles. Everything "is" and "isn't" at the same time, all truths are but half truths and every truth is half false, there are two sides to everything, opposites are identical in nature, yet different in degree, extremes meet, and all paradoxes may be reconciled." - Kybalion.

Well put sir.
Off topic:
Everything "is" and "isn't" at the same time,
Paradox
all paradoxes may be reconciled.
X paradox
=paradox^2?

Then you're naive. Blockland actually has a relatively small, stable community. The word your looking for is probably "more immature", most of what's being done here is retaliation for keys being revoked. The highest extent of an attack on blockland so far has been a DDoS on the master server that was quickly shut down and probably someone Self Delete spamming gore on the forum.

Blockland isn't insecure or unsafe. You're just blowing things waaaay out of proportion.

You don't have this problem in cooking forums.
?? why would there be hackers on a cooking forum ??

Ok, cooking forum was top of my head example.
But yes, more immature and retaliating users is what's happening.
It seems like a more pressing issue on the first topic, however, but probably is out of proportion.
Of course, I could only understand the not C++ half of the talks

Ten bucks says the OP was in Dezcaban's server with me when Dotdotcircle was talking about his stuff that the OP underlined, I think the OP is just all scared that he's gonna ddos or send creeps to his house or something.

lol no but I do remember Hyaku ranting about how great of a guy Tezuni was in a city rpg
