Author Topic: Forum Avatar impressions  (Read 1730 times)

Does anyone else ever picture users on here similarly to their current avatar?

Or, if you see a really low quality avatar that you can't even tell what it is, do you immediately take the user less seriously, or assume that he's new to the Internet, or young, or something along those lines?

I can't help but do this a lot of the time, even though it is inaccurate a fair amount of the time.

Not really, but I do tend to associate users with their avatars rather than their usernames.

That can get annoying when people like changing their avatar 14 times a day.

destroyer could be a hateful child molester, and i still wouldn't care because i can spot him anywhere and know it's him

After using the forums for so long, I can say that people have a lot in common with the avatars they choose.

Before I changed my avatar today, I had the creep swim coach for quite some time.

Found the face picture while cleaning folders. A Skype friend sent me it ages ago, some inside joke that I can't even remember, and I added the "2spooky gg" thing to it and boom. Now that I think about it, I haven't talked to him in a long time. Hm.

I hardly even notice avatars. I once disabled all css and images for the forum and it looked pretty neat because everyone's posts were plaintext only. I changed it back because I find the blue/white color scheme soothing.

Can I have and example of this? Like how do I have anything in common with mine?

I'd imagine not every single user has a lot in common with all their avatars.

There's got to be some exceptions.

Nah, I want to see what Pandan has to say.
But I did find a part that my avatar and I have in common.

I do that all the time. Even though I know some users by their faces via the megathread, I still identify them by their avatars.

I also share the sentiment that people who change their avatars all the time are annoying. I can never figure out who I'm typing to.

I don't know you very well, but i'll give you some examples.

Feel free to brown townyze me, I don't self brown townyze. It's a crime.
I always have some anime girl as my avatar, since forever.

EDIT: Without this turning into a drama topic, lets keep the brown townyzing to a surface level. Especially if you don't like someone.

Pandan is easy, relaxed and peaceful.

I don't think I have much in common with my avatar.
