Recently I've had a real terrible time in the dark. I went out to my garage to go get a soda from the fridge, when I felt like something was in the darkness. I looked around and saw nothing however. I continued to go get the soda from the fridge when I still felt like I was being watched. I became so terrified that I sprinted for the door after I got the can. Once I got out of there I was immediately relieved.
This has happened every now and then when I go into a place of darkness. I can't sleep with my lights off anymore. I am terrified of going outside at night, especially in wooded areas.
I've looked it up and the phobia is called "Nyctophobia", the fear of the dark. Usually patients with this are not mostly not scared of the dark, but scared of what could be hiding in the dark.
Does anyone else feel like this at all?
