Author Topic: At what age should kids be allowed to play M-Rated games?  (Read 3703 times)

i played gta sa when i was like 6
forget me, right?

you should be able to play M rated games when your balls drop

you should be able to play M rated games when your balls drop
dam i can never play

It all depends on how mature the kid is, the game, etc.

I was allowed to play a couple of M rated games at age 12 because I was mature enough to handle them, so yeah it all depends on the situation.

14
You're only saying that because you're 14

people act as if you learn about "mature stuff" at age 17-18
No they don't

I got Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead when I was 9.
I love you Valve.

I watched a few Transformers films when I was 6-8. Those were rated 12. I'm allowed to play games rated PEGI 12 and I don't give a damn about gore in games. Although, I still think it's not a good idea to give your 8 year old kid Call Of Duty.

It should just be left up to the parents. They can decide what to do. If they think giving gory games to 7 year olds is a good idea, then fine. If they think letting their 16 year olds play Nintendogs only is acceptable, then fine.
It should be the parents responsibility to raise their child. Whether they end up as spoilt stuffs or naive scaredy-cats, then whatever.
If parents are responsible for bringing up their kids in all other places, they should be repsonbile for letting them play games.

My parents have always decided if a game is suitable or not.
Most of the time, they've had no real problem with games.

If it's an 18 and we're too young to buy it, they'll buy it for us if they think we're fine with it.
Happily, I'm 18 this year, so i can buy them whenever I want. And I've been purchasing 18 games online anyway.

Well, when I play video games, I see violence as a story element, rather than just pew pew, blood guts.

I'm 14, I see video games as a storytelling device that you can interact with. I think kids should really start playing when they're 14, but the decision really goes to the parents, the ones who buy the game and decide whether or not to purchase it for their child.

Any kid at any age (Well, 8 at the least) should be able to play any game of any rating if the parent has taught the kid that the elements in those games are morally wrong.

I say they should be allowed to play them at the age in which they know the contents of the game is just that; A game. The age at which they know none of it would happen, and not to imitate it.

14 for normal M games, like TES and Turok (from 2008 @_@)
