Author Topic: REQUEST: Train Models  (Read 3887 times)

I am in dire need of train models to package with this.

These models should be made as bot vehicles. They should:
- be bot vehicles
- fit the typical track width (4 studs) and be compact enough to go around a wide corner easily (16 studs long MAX)
- have modelled-in wheels
- not look stuff (because the current version which uses stolen models from wheeled vehicles has a real big problem with that)
- have mount points meant for standing
- not need carridges (trains mod doesn't support carriged trains, may do so one day but will take a long time)
- not be hanging trains (the mod doesn't support those and never will)

However, they CAN:
- have as many mount points as you want
- be any kind of train you want (rollercoaster cars, subway trains etc)
- be as tall as you like (but don't be ridiculous)

KEEP IN MIND THAT:
- The collision box will always be CUBICAL and CENTERED. This means that your trains will probably need doors near the center to make them more plausible, even if the driver sits at the front. It's an engine limitation caused by nonrotating collision boxes, sorry.
- Trains cannot push/pull other trains (yet)
- Trains MUST fit on the track (see above)

If you are interested in helping with a train, post here. Even if you cannot code, I can take any model and patch it into the mod myself.

The reward is to have your name on the Add-On upon it's initial release.

If I could model then I would make one, but I have no idea how.

I can't help but feel this is going to end with me just getting back into milkshape.

Most likely, you can't always depend on others y'know?

I find that the 4x track width is too small.  A 6x track is more realistic.  Could we have trains to fit with both?

Also, chrisbot, are you looking into making cars connect to each other?

why
am i sooooo
demotivated

Opened milkshape, made a minecart. It looked like a grey box balanced on top of four tupperware lids.

Halp

I would do it, but my models always end up being too high poly.
