i dont get it, big builds and projects such as Sylvanors Seattle Build and DayB are always passworded
why?
i mean i would love to check out the progress on the servers and maybe even try to contribute, but no, they are passworded

I am making a server and whenever I work on it I have it passworded.
That's only because I don't want people joining and bothering me while I'm working on it.

People password their servers to make sure no one joins, Because if someone joins they distract them, Also the player could easily save and leave and steal his/her hard work. They would only give out passwords to trusted players to test it for them.

When I was working on Swords of The North, I passworded it because there was a ton of secrets in the map that I didn't want people to find. If someone joins with jets and memorizes the whole map, it's sort of an unfair advantage over others when it's released.

also spam
when big projects are made builders aren't always going to build on baseplates for duplication which makes clearing spam really annoying

people should just play singleplayer, what is even the point of using up bandwidth on a server if you're just going to let no one join

You can still do this when the game is public

The only reason I have is so the players see a finished build and not something wip. I normally host my server on some projects.

I've been passwording my Tank Deathrace, because I like my privacy while building. I can always hand the password to my friends for some help, though.

Honestly, I think it's more professional to not work in public. If I want to build a little house or some stuff I have my server official but if I work on some bigger stuff I rather just be alone with my thoughts. I also don't like showing off wip stuff as it may just water out the awesomeness. :p I want to show of my builds with a big bang. Maybe I could post some sneakypeaks but the build will be shown to public when it's done. Don't want people running around, especially not hostile ones.
That's just my opinion.

Sylvanor will let you in. Just message him and ask him.
