While they note the fact you're a passive nation, they are generally unaware of any politics that normally don't concern them unless war is declared and the sort. War was not declared, so they hadn't been informed of a reason; It was the kings decision himself, and a ambiguous one at that. The king however, does not wish to speak about the subject for the times being.
