Why does youtube keep updating it's look?

I'll admit I do have some nostalgia from the old one, I used to be on YouTube constantly back in 2007-2008



There are ways of switching back btw, I don't mind the layouts, yeah they can be annoying for me trying to find certain things but it's not a big deal.

The same goes with ads, I'd rather not have them though but they aren't that bad.

I'll never really understand why people get so mad about this though it's pretty silly.

Honestly, would the website be that good if they kept the same design for years?

They're changing to keep up with the times, and keep their website modern. If youtube never changed, not only would everyone be bored as stuff, but the website would fall far behind other websites in terms of technological appeal.

Besides, why complain about something that YouTube/Google won't change regardless of what you say or do, and that you know you'll get used to within a week or less? We've been through this cycle before, and it's (kind of) surprising that people haven't gotten wise.

layout =/= features

people "complain" because we are allowed to express our opinions on things as a democratic society. We are the ones keeping their site up and money in their pockets from ads and publicity so we should have a say with the site

EDIT: And no, there's no money coming directly from your income going to them, it's the advertisers paying them for you to see their ads. You'll have a right in what they can do with their website once you start coughing up some cash.

I wouldn't mind though if YouTube gave us an option to switch between the layouts from 2005 to the current one, if they can implement that right (I'll miss my stars though :c)

Im glad the dislike and like bar thing got removed, I was tired of "The dislike bar is the size of x" comments.

That would be a complete waste of time. People would look at it for maybe a day for nostalgic value, or for curiosity of what it looked like in the past.

It's still ugly as stuff, though, and barely functional compared to today's layout. I doubt anyone would be able to stand using it for a week. (Using it back then doesn't count; you didn't have the same technologies.)

It's there, just a different color that doesn't really stand out, so it's fair to call it "removed".
