Author Topic: Would you want to be cryogenically frozen?  (Read 3936 times)

this entire thing sounds like you're trying WAY too hard to sound professional, i hope that's what you were going for.

That was the point lol

I definitely would not.

I'd say yes, even though with my luck the facility housing the pods would get caught on fire the day after i got frozen.

No, we're all carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, all basic elements taken from the far reaches of the universe, it'd be selfish of me after my death to keep it all here. I want to either be cremated and my ashes scattered or more preferably given a sky burial, to return these elements into nature. We only borrow them for the duration of our lives, and I believe we're all responsible to give them back.

I know you're just taking a page from that Neil deGrasse Tyson quote about returning elements to the flora and fauna of the environment, but that's such a dumb philosophy in the first place. All the elements you listed are ridiculously common in the universe, but the human brain is possibly one of the scarcest objects in the universe. You're willing to destroy such a unique and priceless thing just to fulfill some philosophy about completing the carbon cycle on Earth? That's just stupid.

I don't need any of these elements after I'm dead, why should I hang on to them? Humans are a species and just as is inevitable for all species, we eventually all die. I want to return the elements that make up my body into nature, I personally see myself as only having borrowed them. I'm not going to preach to you, but the universe in itself is a priceless thing and I want to give myself back to its natural order. I'm not saying everyone should, I'm saying this is what I want to do because I see it as more natural and something I will be happier with knowing. I hope you can respect my views, as I respect yours.

Haha, yes.
I watched The Spy Who Shagged Me yesterday. Good stuff.

You're equating cryogenic freezing with death. One is permanent, one isn't. There's plenty of reason to 'hang onto' these elements.

forget your views. I'm going to the future!

send me a postcard

im going to die anyways, might as well enjoy the life that i have now instead of just ending it and then starting a new one 100 years later. i could find way better things to do with that money then to spend it on freezing myself, its not like im a genius or something so there wouldnt really be a reason.
This. Also, I want to go BACK, not FORWARD in time  :cookieMonster:
