Author Topic: KotB's music loops: Suddenly, Cave Story! (taking requests)  (Read 4748 times)

Unfortunately, I had to make these in vegas, so there's a chance the timing at the point of looping will be a tiny bit off.

Note that because good file hosting sites are dysfunctional for me, I will be attaching all files. You can see the list below.
Sources: Mannheim Steamroller songs grabbed from videos available for download on Youtube, Super Smash Bros Brawl tunes uploaded to Youtube by Gilvasunner, Cave Story and Cave Story Wii (Eu + Na 1.1) tunes uploaded to Youtube by Frygoon, Cave Story 3D tunes uploaded to Youtube by CurchackBonk, and Cave Story Beta tunes available on a Cave Story fansite (alongside their final counterparts) by special agreement with Pixel himself. Wario Land 4 OST uploaded to Youtube by someone (AlchemistFurryBomber, I think), Dungeon Explorer II tune, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Witch Doctor (movie version), and Lego Racers tune uploaded to Youtube by people who I can't remember, What Song Is This uploaded to Youtube by Megaman765 as part of a video, and finally, Newgrounds Audio Uploads uploaded to (obviously) Newgrounds Audio, authors are listed alongside the song.
First: Cave Story OST: Run!
Plays during King's crowning moment of awesome when he rushes in and smashes Balrog over the head, and later plays during Iron Head's boss fight and a few other instances.
Second: Super Smash Bros Brawl OST: The Battle for Storm Hill
I think it's available on a DK-themed stage.

Third: Newgrounds audio upload: The Fart Master, by 3kiksphilip.
It's not what you'd expect.

Fourth: Wario Land 4 OST: Toy Block Tower
Plays during the Toy Block Tower level... obviously. Is groovy. Too bad I had to shorten it. Source unknown, I downloaded all Wario Land 4 levels in a huge pile. I think it was AlchemistFurryBomber on Youtube.

Fifth: Wario Land 4 OST: Boss fight
Plays during the four main boss fights of Wario Land 4: Aerodent, Catbat, Cuckoo Condor, and (by far the most difficult of them if you don't know the secret) Cractus. This song is forever associated with Cractus in my head because I spent a good hour or four trying to beat him. For the first half hour, I couldn't figure out that those vines in the background could be climbed (The screen never scrolls so I couldn't figure out the layers). When I finally did beat him, it was because I finally figured out
Quote from: spoilers
you can avoid having to deal with dodging all his punches if you get zombified by his drool after injuring him, then jump and hit the firefly to un-zombify right as it comes on screen, which reverts him back to his moving-across-the-screen-so-you-can-smash-him attack

Anyway, a few soundtracks went over the 500kb limit. They are:
Dungeon Explorer II OST: Dark Maze (551kb), Lego Racers OST: PC version Miscallaneous Island Theme 1 (691kb), and "What song is this even?" (847kb, I never have figured out where this song came from, though it's definitely video game music; I heard it in a youtube video)

Update: These songs have been reduced in size and are now posted.

Converted them all while bored this morning. Will look for other good ones to convert tomorrow.

New soundtracks out!
6. Cave Story OST: Final Boss
Plays during the battle with the Undead Core. Source is the same as "Run" above.

7. Mannheim Steamroller: Los Peces en el Rio (loop section 1)
Not technically video game music. Mannheim Steamroller is an orchestra that takes christmas music and makes it awesome.
There's a loop section 2, but it exceeded the filesize limit by a little bit. Might find a way to shrink it down later on. and it is now posted with a reasonable filesize.

8. Mannheim Steamroller: Rudolph
Again, not technically video game music. Looped the first segment before it gets into the main tune.

9. Cave Story 3D: Wind Fortress
Plays during the special Wind Fortress mode of Cave Story 3D. Found on youtube. This thing is EXACTLY 500kb, so I don't think posting it breaks the rules.
Edit: Aw shiet it looked like 500kb on my screen one moment while I fix it.
Edit2: Compressed a bit more and now has a much more reasonable filesize.

10. Dungeon Explorer II OST: Dark Maze
I've now converted this again on a lower audio quality (not a noticable difference) and it works.

11. Mannheim Steamroller: Angels We Have Heard On High
Once more, not technically video game music. This particular song is one of their best.

12. Lego Racers PC version OST: Miscallaneous Island 1
On the PC version, this track has a random chance of playing instead of the normal track for the race in the Island levels. I forever associate it with the first course, the boardwalk/jungle/caves. This is the entire loop, downloaded from Youtube and converted a few times to get the filesize to a manageable level.
Note that there is a slight dysfunction in this music, so tiny it's prettymuch unnoticable, that results from the video upload beginning the loop at a weird spot and me trying to reorder it in Vegas. As such, about half the song is a tiny fraction of a beat off, but it's impossible to tell unless you really try to brown townyze it.

13. Mannheim Steamroller: Los Peces En El Rio (loop section 2)
One more that isn't technically video game music, I fixed the second loop to reduce filesize and now it's smaller than the first despite being longer. I think this loop is the better of the two.

14. Unknown: What song is this
I found this in Megaman765's "Mario Goes Crazy" as the third song, and I have been unable to find the original source of the music. It's really catchy though.
