Author Topic: Looking for a good ambient horror game  (Read 1240 times)

So I'm looking for a good ambient horror game, one that's creepy and unsettling but not full of tons and tons of jumpscares. A more slow-paced sort of horror, possibly some bit of "what the hell happened here" discovery. Any recommendations?
Games I've tried:
Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Was too hard to the point I ragequit on the first monster. Game mechanics were frustrating. I almost want to buy it and go in with some hacks or something and remove most or all of the monsters so I can just witness the ambience.

7 days.
I looked at it and realized that I've played two flash games with the same premise. One I can no longer find anymore, the other was a poorly drawn pile of stuff.
Playing anyway.
EDIT: After watching a piece of a youtube video, I am not playing this. loving JUMPSCARES. Jumpscares EVERYWHERE. Too many jumpscares.

The crooked man.
;-;

Paranoiac
Mad Father

The first F.E.A.R and Alan Wake.

The STALKER series is pretty damn good at ambient horror

Penumbra: Overture and Penumbra: Black Plauge

also Amnesia is at the top of it's game when it comes to this genre, if Amnesia isn't good enough for you I'm afraid you might be out of luck.

lone survivor
fatal frame maybe

Among the sleep (I think that's what it's called)

Ambient horror game?

The Path

Idk I don't get scared by horror games at all. So, i'm probably not a good person to be recommending them.
