I personally hate my MacBook.

My parents aren't Apple fans, but they are Samsung fans. :/

The only reason I don't own any Apple products is because I can't afford it. Simple as that.

my deal with apple users is that they think because they pay more they think they have the right to act like an elitist friend about it

Yeah, I have to agree. People are just proving the "Apple users are starfishs" theory,

Apple's stuff is pretty good imo, they have a huge array of applications and neat stuff to do. Sure they're products are expensive and overpriced but they're pretty damn good.

I love how nearly everyone who dislikes Macs never fully give a good argument for disliking them. I use Apple, but I'm not gonna say it's better. It is what it is, and it's Apple products do exactly what they're designed to do.

What are they designed to do? Well, they're designed to make money. Just like every other computer out there. Yes, they're expensive, but it's your choice whether or not you spend that money. And don't let people try to tell you that they're made with crappy hardware. It's simply not true. It may not be as good as what you can get from a high end custom build, but most Apple products last longer than many comparable products.

What else are they designed for? Ease of use. It's much easier for an elderly, non tech-savvy person to get started with computers on a Mac than on Windows. Why? Because Apple knows how to take simplistic design and put it to good use. Really, before you bash the operating system, give it a fair review. There are only the necessary things there for a clutter free environment, but it still has all the stuff that developers and other advanced users may need.

Another thing. Macs are designed to be artfully made. Many people like their Apple because of how it looks, and there's nothing wrong with that. I could care less; I really care about functionality. But I won't put it above someone to buy something they like because of how it looks.

And perhaps the most important design aspect of the Apple computer is its functionality when it comes to being artistic, in any shape or form. Apple has it all, from video editing to music making to drawing to graphic design; the list goes on. I guarantee that of you took your Windows computer to a graphic designer and challenged them, you'd loose, and not because you might lack skill, but simply because there are so many tools available for creative work on OS X, and the operating system is designed specifically for that type of work. It does what it was made to do, and it does it well.

Don't think I'm bashing Windows, though. I love Windows for what I need it for, and wouldn't want to give it up. However, I am a fairly creative guy, and I find that a Mac simply works better for what I do on the computer most often.

The bottom line is, people need to give something a fair fighting chance before they bash it on the head and denounce it as  "unworthy". Because there's a pretty good chance, especially with such a large following, that the products aren't as bad as you're claiming them to be. Advertising works to a degree, but do you really think that so many people would be gushing over a truly poor product, even if it was advertised well? I think not. Companies do well because they are good at what they do, not bad. It's quite simple, actually.

Anyway, I hope this has been enlightening. And just so you know, I typed this whole thing... on my Apple iPod. ;)

i disagree here; there are many great tools on both operating systems

i don't think anyone in this thread is calling apple products unworthy; they're airing their dissatisfaction with people who blindly preach apple, or with the functions/prices of apple products

kool beanz

You should murder all of them because this situation is worse than the holocaust.

apple is for old people Lol. that fad has passed.

He thinks everything else is prone to viruses, and Apple's cannot get viruses. (Which for dummies, is totally not true. Apples can get viruses just like normal PC's can. It depends on how stupid the operator is and if they actually know what they are downloading. If they are oblivious then you are prone to viruses).
My mother is just like my dad. She call her windows 7 computer that is pretty good (6 GB of RAM, 2.30 GHz, Quad Processors) slow. She gets viruses constantly cause she downloads anything that says "100% SAFE"
My sister (she just got a new Macbook pro from my parents for free no charge at all). She thinks that everything else sucks, she is always trying to make me jealous about her laptop and everything. She's die hard Apple. Sometimes she scares me. She thinks they can't get viruses and such. And anything that has "Windows" or "Microsoft" she literally will say "haha so stupid" or worse in public.
My other sister is the same as above, except she just got a new iPod touch from my parents absolutely free.
Infect their computers with viruses.
There aren't that many, but you can find one.

but most Apple products last longer than many comparable products. You made this up with no real evidence.

It's much easier for an elderly, non tech-savvy person to get started with computers on a Mac than on Windows. No one is complaining about old people using Macs.

Many people like their Apple because of how it looks, and there's nothing wrong with that. You should start caring because this sort of consumer guides Apple to not spend as much money on other aspects of there computer.

I guarantee that of you took your Windows computer to a graphic designer and challenged them, you'd loose, and not because you might lack skill, but simply because there are so many tools available for creative work on OS X, and the operating system is designed specifically for that type of work. Completely false. The graphic artists for the most played game in the world use Windows. Most graphic artists use Photoshop, which is cross-platform.

do you really think that so many people would be gushing over a truly poor product, even if it was advertised well? I think not. A lot of people do it so it can't be wrong.

-snip-
I do have evidence, as I know people who own both, including myself, and in general, the Apple products have stood up to time better than most Microsoft based products. Note that I said most. Not all, just quite a few. My mistake for not presenting enough information to get my point across.

I also never said anyone was complaining. I was giving an example of ease of use. And Bisjac, I never stated it was a fad. It's simply true. I know a man personally who is elderly and would testify to it.

Also, I feel I didn't quite get my point across about the whole graphic designer thing. I wasn't trying to focus on the software so much (which, btw, isn't mostly limited to Photoshop; most make use of nearly the entire Adob suite; trust me, my aunt's a GD), but rather the workflow of the computer's OS. Apple simply works better between applications and within the system overall for media related managing, editing, and so forth. Don't make comment like this unless you have used both OSes extensively for these tasks like I have. Once, I tried using Photoshop on a Windows, and even though it was the same program, i had a more difficult time using it properly, because of the OS integration and surrounded application support. As I said before, I am not biased towards Apple. When it comes to gaming, or programming, etc, I prefer Windows.

I find it funny that you cut out this part:

Advertising works to a degree
What I mean by this is that they do have a bit - no, rather large following because of bandwagoning. But this doesn't make up the entire group. But how did the company get to be so popular in the first place? By being ahead of the game, innovative, and producing a product that appealed to people.

I don't hate Apple, I think they've been very successful as a company and in their history, contributed a lot to the world of computers, turning them from something only a hobbyist would have into a desirable product that a marginal percentage of US households have today.

What I hate, however, is their pricing and their operating system. It shouldn't cost $100 for 2 gigabytes of RAM. I don't like their OS because, as somebody using Windows 7 every day, it confuses me and a bunch of the functions I'd need are hard to use because Apple spent too much time making them look pretty and not enough time making a nice interface. Other than that, I don't care which one you use as long as there isn't any elitism.
