There is one person who tried to help you but you instantly shot him down.
It's your HDD being choppy. Defrag and clean it up. Doesn't matter if it's 750GB, it can still get filled with random garbage.

How is it my HDD being choppy if garrys mod records fine?

-ugh-

i've been having this problem too, i figured out both my hard drives have gotten into pretty bad condition and their read/write speeds are p bad

You never mentioned that in this thread.

In fact, you said:when someone asked you what programs cause this.

wait nevermind, it seems that fraps does lag spike in other games
what do i do?

Defrag, uninstall unused programs, delete garbage files that are laying around.

I used defraggler to find files and it found 7 gb fragmented files in the C:\(some folder i cant remember)\ directory, i tried to defrag them and it didn't let me defrag them, are they supposed to be there?

I don't understand.

Go to start menu, type in "Disk Defragmenter"
New window pops up. Select your primary HDD/Partition, click "Defragment Disk"
Wait a lot
I mean a lot, in the mean time delete unnecessary programs/registry files/files.

I suspect that Fraps itself is responsible for the stutters. I tried recording LEGO Rock Raiders videos and around 8-10 minutes, I get these annoying lag spikes. The intensity of the stutters are mild at first, but it goes away after a few seconds. Another few seconds gone by, the lag intensifies heavily. It was so bad, that I gave up on the recording. Defragmenting, cleaning up the registry, and purging junk files didn't do stuff to Fraps. I even have a lot of space on the hard drive.

If your version of Fraps is 3.5.99, try downgrading it to 3.5.9 to see different results. If it doesn't work, it's probably telling you to get a better hard drive.
