Author Topic: I was put in an "advanced computer" class  (Read 2653 times)

You chose your major in 8th grade?

Kind of off topic (but still school/computer related), my teachers last year didn't know how to use Microsoft Office at all. Does anyone think that knowing how to use a computer should be mandatory for teaching an online class?

OTT: Wow! You'll learn how to save a file to a directory!

sort of related, I'm taking a computer hardware class next year

You know you'll do fine when the teacher starts the class off with a powerpoint presentation of how to act correctly in the classroom, even by 8th grade.
Most likely, if you can post on the Blockland forums without looking like an idiot, you'll be the only one who isn't typing at a keyboard like an autistic child, or a chicken pecking at some food.

in my computer class in 8th grade, all we did was make documents with microsoft word, it was an easy "a" because we used microsoft word like every day. wait until high school when you get good computer classes.

Last year my computer class was so pathetically easy. I aced almost everything. My teacher hated me though so as long as that doesn't happen youll be fine.

KIDS DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR FONT SIZE IN MICROSOFT WORD
IT'S SUPER ADVANCED I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT THOUGH

- literally all of my computer teachers

i'm pretty sure in a few years programming classes will become more normal in elementary/middle school settings. and i can't wait. i sure wish i had been introduced to programming earlier in life.

but for now they're a waste of time. just do the work as quick as possible then learn more advanced things things like web developement or basic programming.

You'll be fine, our 8th grade computer class was just "this is how you're supposed to type", "this is how you use word", and "this is how you do excel".

Our teacher taught us Micorosft Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Access. She also tried to teach us HTML, but barely anyone managed to do what we were supposed to so she was like "Forget it.".
The problem is that some people literally don't know how to do some things, despite how basic may they look for others.

I'd probably manage what I was taught...

And I hate the "this is how you're supposed to type" classes, I don't follow that method and I already type faster than anyone in my loving class... my dad actually told me to tell my teachers that I don't need the method, too.

In those classes, they don't really teach you anything "advanced." Mine taught us all how to use Microsoft Excel correctly :I.

I'm pretty confident I'll do good in this class, then haha.
