About World of TanksWorld of Tanks is developed by Wargaming.net to provide as realistic of a third person tank battle experience as possible. The game provides a rich experience for players, I myself have played for about a year and I love the gameplay. You can take cover and snipe tanks from across the huge battlefield, or be a scout and run in between tanks behind enemy lines spotting enemy tanks for your team to take out.
Features of the GameIn the game there are some really interesting game mechanics, a lot of them aren't utilized correctly by players so if you learn to take advantage of them, you can really win a lot of games. Keeping hidden and not being spotted is a huge thing, the less damage you take is the better, being able to find good cover and snipe is a great tactic. Learning how your tank is built to be played on the battlefield is a huge deal, the difference of how and SPG or a Light Tank is played is insane, if you attempt to take an SPG to scout you're going to lose every match and get nowhere.
Tank ClassesTanks come in all different shapes and sizes, and they all provide different strengths and weaknesses. You rank up to get new, stronger tanks, by playing your lower rank tanks and earning EXP and upgrading those tanks. Every tank falls under 1 of 5 classes of tanks:
-Light Tanks Light Tanks are best used for scouting and taking out tanks who have strayed from the enemy lines, with these tanks it is very important to stay hidden and keep moving, your armor will not hold out for much damage, it's also a good idea to let your heavy tanks clear out the rushing enemy tanks at the beginning of the match before moving in
-Medium Tanks These tanks can correctly fulfill most positions, but they won't excel in any position. They can hold the line, or run a scout mission, but they aren't as strong as a heavy tank and they aren't as fast as a Light Tank, these tanks are great for people who can think on their feet.
-Heavy Tanks These tanks are built to hold the line and take out rushing tanks, these tanks are slow and very immobile. Don't expect to base capture in a Heavy tank, just sit back and wait for the enemies to rush in so you can destroy them with a massive cannon.
-Tank Destroyers These tanks are built to snipe from across the map, they have huge cannons but aren't the best in the armor area. Just find a hidden spot on a ridge or hill and switch to sniper mode and take out the other team
-Self Propelled Guns SPG's are commonly referred to ingame as 'arty', short for artillery. These tanks can hit almost every spot on the map with massive amounts of damage, but be careful because once an enemy gets too close, there's nothing you can do to stop them from blowing you to pieces.
Factions in the Game The game is loosely based around the WWII era and you can play as plenty of nations around the world, each tank is correctly from that nation and is for the most part historically and factually correct in-game. The factions you can play as are the such: America, Britain, Germany, France, Russia (USSR), China. Each nation has it's own strengths and weaknesses and you come to learn them very fast, some nations are also stronger for certain tank types, Germany being their Tank Destroyers. You can own tanks from any nation at any time, there is no nation lock, so you can play in an American T-1 for a match then switch over to a German LeichTaktor for the next match.
