I think we really should be focusing on it. Detroit is the car center of America. It's where Henry Ford revolutionized not only the auto industry, but the whole world of manufacturing with his perfection of the production line. It's sad to see such a city fall. Even if the statistics by the OP are true, it is/was the largest hub of the automotive industry in North America for about a century now. Just like New Orleans, still suffering damage. But being in debt ourselves makes it difficult to help our citizens, which I guess is why we're "helping" others overseas because somehow that makes sense. But alas, that's just my opinion.
