Author Topic: How do YOU talk in real life?  (Read 3039 times)

i try to talk exactly how i type (or possibly vice versa), up to and including using 'like' every other sentence

the biggest difference is that i don't pause as much as my text would imply (or more accurately i don't pause for as LONG as my text implies)

also my normal tone of voice is yelling and it sounds even louder because my voice seems to hit just the right pitch to reverberate wildly off walls n stuff

i've got just enough bass in my voice to make everything i say ricochet like a mother in most structures.

It's hard to be british via text. :( It's not possible to talk too fast and Stumble over words in text.

pretty much the same way i talk on the forums

My vocabulary and speaking ability isn't so top tier as in the internet since here i have some time to think what I'm going to say without being awkwardly silent.

normal with a slight southern accent that you rarely notice unless you're looking for it

i kind of adopt the way of speaking of whoever i'm with

if they're southern, i'm southern

if they're asian, i'm asian

if they're british, i'm british

you get the point

(especially with indian people)
i do this a lot without even thinking about it

But doesn't that tick people off? It seems like they could take it as you making fun of them...

It depends actually. Its obvious when someone is mocking the way someone talks.

On the Internet I'm an starfish to everyone and usually use good vocabulary and grammar.

In real life I'm an outgoing guy who can't stop moving and going places. I'm always making jokes and can't stop talking.

i don't really talk much at all irl but when i do it's usually hard to understand what i'm saying, which is probably because i don't talk much at all and thus i'm bad at talking

My online personality and my IRL personality are literally polar opposites. (Unless you're a close friend IRL.) That's mostly why everyone thinks I'm white, haha.
Sort of the same. I still don't try to be a richardwad, but I'm a lot more quiet... until something pisses me off.
Also you're not white lolwat
Yeah, and when people say they're of one skin tone and they're avatar is another, I find it confusing 'cause I originally associate them with they're avatar. So, for example, I've always thought of Frankie as black, but I actually have no idea. XD
This so loving much you have no idea
I speak with big words and slang combined into a jumble of intelligent handicapation.
This I do sometimes, usually when caught off-guard or otherwise flustered.
I guess I just speak as sophisticated as I can with my accent, I also sometimes feel like I leave a lot of pauses when I talk.

You know
Sometimes I just get the feeling

That i like

Pause a lot
Yeah, I pause a lot and repeat the last word/sound I said for no particular reason. A bit of a stutter. It's problematic.

I do this a tiny, tiny bit.

But you can say "oi".

I wish I could talk to you in real life. Then I would understand you a lot better.

I talk in various ways as mentioned in the above quotes. Sometimes if either A) I've been around a particular person too long or B) They've made a major impression on me, I'll start talking and typing a little bit more like they do. For a while I sounded a helluva lot like my cousin Derek, and another time I sounded british for a while (people actually asked me). A third time I sounded British because I had just spent a week sorting through all of Wheatley's voice clips from Portal 2, and sometimes I just sound Australian and who knows why.
One difference I can think of: IRL, I use "man" or just leave the word out where on the internet I say "mate". I also cuss a lot less IRL. I still cuss, just less.
Also when I feel like I can trust someone I will not be able to stop talking to them. I really need more friends lol

But you can say "oi"
i say oi, and i'm english only by descent.

I have a British accent but sometimes it goes a little bit Australian.

It's kind of hard to replicate that via text.
