Author Topic: When BL gets greenlit, what do you think the forums will be like?  (Read 3251 times)

why do you think blockland is going to be greenlit soon?
maybe because people like you don't actually pay attention to blockland's development and sit in off-topic only.

it will just have more people, the new people will eventually get the feel of the forums like all the other new people. for the most part general discussion, gallery, and the help section will prob gain the most posts. most new users dont use off topic.

Oh please. Most new players don't even care to join the forums until years later. So I'm not really worried. But, if people act like morons then we can surely handle it.

I just hope badspot gets more moderators because if we do get more users to a level like roblox or minecraft, then we will need them, because stuff will get out of hand.

stuff already is out of hand and has been for a while.

add it badspot

because it's epic

-snip-
We shall call it "Before the Blockalypse" or "Before the Blocklcaust".

Well apparently i like it when stuff is out of hand.

There's probably going to be a giant noob rush if Yogscast or something like that reviews the game, but after a while it will be more stable.

i play singleplayer

blockland needs an engine change to be taken seriously imo.  we can't even have more than 7 lights on at a time

Any point other than something that isn't even a problem?

9 times out of 10, it's not the engine, it's how you use the engine.

sorry for the crosspost but incredibly relevant
I'm going to throw down some hard truths right now.

The Blockland community is one of the biggest problems with the game. Almost all of you desire that BL gets on steam, but I guarantee that NONE of you want the users that a steam release will bring with it. The drama forum is the PERFECT example as to why none of you are ready for BL on steam. Yes, every game has drama. Yes, every game has its problem users. NO OTHER VIDEO GAME FORUM ACTIVELY DOCUMENTS AND THEN PUBLICIZES IT. It doesn't help that badspot has a habit of posting email correspondences with people that could easily be written off as nutjobs and therefore ignored. And it sure as stuff doesn't help that we unwittingly glorify and feed the egos of the same handicaps holding this game back from further development! This entire Jazz drama  and badspots clumsy handling of the situation have in no way benefitted the image of Blockland as a community OR a game. Furthermore, Badspot's policy of allowing people to come back to the forum for the bargain price of 20$ is outrageous. A permanent ban on the forum should be just that. Permanent. I understand that people can just go out and buy more keys and keep playing the game. That's fine. But at least then there isn't a permanent record of their douchebaggery and flat-out illegal activities for everyone on the internet to see.

Returning to the users that a steam release will bring;

Do you think that a release on steam would INCREASE the average IQ of a BL user? It will only increase the influx of young, impressionable children into this forum, akin to releasing puppies in a cage of starving lions. You guys would tear them a new starfish and think nothing of it, because that's how you have attuned your social standards on this site.

Blockland as a game is excellent. It's a clear candidate for release on steam, no doubt. The gameplay is great, the default features have a lot of replay value, and as a sandbox people will be able to get a lot of value for what they spend. The issue is YOU people. If valve looks at the community of a game before they greenlight it (spoilers, they do), we've got a lot of waiting to do.

Any point other than something that isn't even a problem?

vehicle physics suck too

You guys are acting like we are going to become huge once we get on steam. Steam isnt going to send a stuffton of people here its just another way to buy the game.  I doubt we are going to get much bigger unless blockland gets a Lets Play from someone famous and there may be a couple of boosts of players every once in a while from summer sales.

I mean one only for people who knew each other before the huge wave of people that will come with the greenlight.

The offtopic will shrivel up and die and drama will be flooded. The addons section will be filled with so many scriptkiddies that noone will have time to failbin all the bad addons. It will be chaos and the only way this community will survive is if we move to steam instead and not let any of the new guys in.

hahahahaha you're kidding right
