Some one could make a grenade that when it hits the ground it makes a temporary shield with a diameter that is slightly bigger than your player


Sounds like Repulsion Field stuff to me.

I've searched and searched but could not find a way to make something like this.

Everytime they start up the shield you could do %client.sheild = 1; then edit the radius damage to check if(%col.shield) return;

That would be okay if it was a portable player shield, but not if it was a throwable shield-generating grenade like the poster said.

Make it spawn a trigger around it.

Pretty cool idea though, would like to see this done.

Make it an Impulse field, with a Min to Maximum boundary (Minimum 5 metres to Maximum 5.2 metres, so it makes a thin layer of impulse and doesn't throw whoever is in the shield out of it) then make a trigger that activates an Impulse field every 0.1 seconds.

Finally, use the same Impulse Min-Max values to make a Projectile Deletion feild that erases any projectile item that comes in contact with the shield boundary layer. Even better, a projectile detonation feild that makes the projectile Explode. You could also make anyone found inside the field invulnerable to impulse / radius damage.

Finally, no really, finally add a transparent spinning non-collision sphere with inner and outer skin as the basic explosion shape. to make it last longer simply add an animation sequence with 10 frames of still animation and give it an FPS of x/10 seconds as the time you want it to remain.

... or you can model a disc and have it spawn being a scale of -1 1 -1... that would stop bullets but let people walk through

The only problem would be testing for any players inside the shield when it appears and de-shielding players when the shield goes away.

what the thing does is it is acts to have collisions with projectiles, but not players
you jsut throw it on the ground and hide behind it
