Maybe there should be permadeath, and the game works off of rounds.

What do you plan to do on victims reporting their own murderers? Like if someone killed you wouldn't you be able to spot the murderer and immediate report him to the police? What would prevent then from doing that?
Currently, this simple snippet of code:

Through a lot of begging, groveling and brown-nosing, I've talked Vaux into letting me be in charge of a general discussion topic for CityMod. Brian probably won't like this, but then again Brian doesn't like me in general.
Here are the current planned uses for the gen. discussion topic:
- Quirky icons for each section (ex. fire hydrant for city details section)
- General introduction to CityMod
- General overview of the server map (hopefully we'll have a minimap!)
- Overall database for CityMod information (maybe a public Google Docs file folder)
- List of all helpers / admins (Scripters, Modelers, Builders, Hosting, etc)
- FAQ
- Public CityMod Calendar (Google+ calendar detailing progress each day, as well as beta-test days open to public)
- Private CityMod Calendar (used strictly for helpers, will be protected, will list all working days)
- A constantly updated list of updates, including date and team-members who worked on goal
- To-do List
- Polls and Poll History (Ask the general public what they want in a mod)
- Images (pre-approved by Vaux prior to posting, to prevent too much information leakage)
- ???
I'm going to begin writing a rough draft tonight for the topic, and I'll run it by Vaux prior to posting.

Well, Sorry, But I don't believe I ever agreed to this right now.  In our present situation, I don't think its feasible nor rational to be making a GD Topic.  The mod isn't even finished yet. :/

I'm not implying that we should never have a GD Topic; We should, and will.  Just not right now though.

In the meantime, if you want to take charge of the Mod. Discussion Topic, be my guest.  From what i've seen, you surely have better expertise over topic formatting and planning.

Sorry, I think you misinterpreted my question. I was asking what you have to prevent the victim from easily reporting the murderer, wouldn't they have overwhelming evidence since they were the victim of the murder?

We haven't coded anything that would give the victim of the murder any evidence.
I also expect our players to, out of courtesy, uphold the "New Life" rule, which states that you are to not speak of your murder/death after dying.  Of course, even if the person did tell the whole server that so and so killed him, he would have no proof to back it up.  Kills are hidden from the chat, and unless someone has found any convicting evidence, the murder is not guilty.

EDIT: I'm thinking about making the respawn time 30 Seconds to prevent a murdered victim from showing others his dead body.  Post your opinions on this...

Also, the spawn time was planned to be 45 seconds, so he's asking whether he should lower it or not. I think 45 seconds is fine.

Frankly, I don't see the problem with having to wait to respawn.  Sure it gets annoying when you desperately want to get back into the action, but waiting a simple 45 seconds to respawn is nothing compared to how long an average blocklander plays in one server, or in Blockland as a whole.  Utilize those mere 45 seconds to get up and do something.  Take that piss you've been holding in.

I've started working on a title graphic for the mod, both for usage on the general discussion topic, and the mod itself upon players joining the server

I'm thinking about making it fade to clear around the edges, and cutting out of the black shapes to reveal the sunset behind. I have a PNG file so I can edit it in photoshop.

What do you guys think? It doesn't really accurately portray the desired feeling of the whole city, but it's in the name: CITYMod.


Disclaimer, I spent my entire lunch period at school working on this. Aka that's all of 40 minutes. With 3 different test designs.
So really more like 15 minutes

see next page, Vaux already has a logo, I somehow missed it. Don't ask me how. I guess I was really more focused on the facts of the mod when I joined the team.
