Why would someone become a bounty hunter just for the weapons...?
If they want to commit murder or other criminal activities that require a weapon, then a bounty hunter is your free ticket to acquire such.

They would have to buy weapons every time they die. If they die 2-3 times while trying to claim a bounty, and they finally claim it on the 3-4 try, they still lost money. It would be extremely hard for bounty hunters to make money if they are constantly buying weapons to claim bounties.  There would be way too much time being wasted on re-buying weapons.
Solution: Don't suck a being a Bounty Hunter.  It would be kinda like something you have to get "real" time-and-effort experience for.

I am NOT repeating myself again. I refuse. I have said it 4 times already. I just can't. I can't. I'm sorry, I just can't. I don't understand. Are you not reading it? Are you not understanding it? Do you even see it?

Please, someone else who understands me explain it to him.

I truly am sorry, I really am, that I have to reply with this, but I feel that it is quite needed. I am sorry. Just please try to re-read the quote I have re-posted like 4 times. I really will understand if you somehow missed it or misunderstood it.

I'm trying to be as nice as possible, but my patience is wearing thin.

The point is not that you need to be really good at the job; it's that there are too many negative possibilities that could arise as a bounty hunter without a weapon that they spawn with. Without spawning with some sort of weapon, bounty hunters become way more susceptible to setbacks compared to every other skillset. There would be too much risk involved, even for a skilled player to deal with.

Are you referring to this?
It would be much like if a police officer committed crimes and had his baton/badge taken away, except the bounty hunter would get his weapon taken away. I would view spawning with weapons as a privilege and abusing that privilege will get them taken away. Same goes for policeman. If they abuse their weapons or power, they will eventually get those taken away.

The main difference between a cop with a baton and a bounty hunter with a gun is that the baton isn't high powered.  A low weapon knife could be a possibility though.

Also I do see what you mean by "It would be taken away if used other than for collecting bounties", and my take on this is that the player could just re-become a bounty hunter.  I won't have jobs so that eliminates 'losing that job', and the only other option would be to remove their skill from them which imo is dumb because you can't just un-learn a skill.

EDIT: I thought about it and what do you peoples think of a Bounty Hunter being a mission-type thing.

Bounty hunters should spawn with a 2-hit knife at most. Not a high powered assault rifle.

You said that jobs are dynamic. What you do shapes what you are. So if you are a bounty hunter and you claim bounties like you should, you will keep that skill and even move up in that skillset. If you are a bounty hunter and decide to use your weapons to kill random people and commit other crimes, that is not what shapes a bounty hunter. This behavior is the behavior of a criminal, and so your skill will change to criminal, thus taking away your weapons.

Claiming bounties = Bounty hunter
Murder/other crimes = Criminal

Bounty hunters should spawn with a 2-hit knife at most. Not a high powered assault rifle.
Not at the most. A 2-hit knife would be at the least. At the most would be more like a silenced pistol and a sniper rifle.

Bounty hunters should definitely eventually get guns and I do not see them being overpowered at all.

Don't you loving get it?
The weapons are created from materials at the factories. If there are no factories or miners and nobody can buy weapons in town, NOBODY should be able to get them out of thin air, including the bounty hunters.
Stop trying to shove this idea down our throats. Bounty Hounters will not spawn with guns.
They can buy them and stash it somewhere in their place instead.
Another thing is, what makes you say that bounty hunters will not be able to charge their own price?

Sorry if I've been too rude.

I would settle for them spawning with a knife. They need to have some sort of weapon on them at all times. I guess stashing weapons could work. I am just trying to make the bounty hunter skillset more appealing to players. In previous city RPs, the bounty hunter job is hardly used, and when it is used, it's most likely because they want to jail people. Nobody ever placed bounties.

I can see it being difficult for just starting bounty hunters if they don't have a lot of money or if they don't have a building/safe to store weapons in. Dying would be a huge setback for them because they would have to replace the lost weapon.

I forgot to reply to this.

I think this would be a good idea, but to an extent. Not all of the job would be based on missions that are automatically given. In fact, they shouldn't be given at all if bounties are being placed by real players enough. If business slows (nobody is really placing any bounties) then they could randomly receive a pop-up box that tells them a target to take out and it asks them if they want to accept it or not. The bounty hunter would click "Yes", "No", or "Ask me later". If they accept it, then they can kill that player and be wired the money (the amount depending on the reputation, skill, total money of the target). If they don't accept it, they can't claim the bounty. If they select "Ask me later", it could ask them again if they want to take the job in maybe a half an hour or so.

These automated bounties should not pop-up often. The job should mainly depend on bounties being placed by players. If nobody is placing bounties, THEN they start receiving these messages. They won't get these messages and have player-placed bounties going at the same time.

This would definitely reel more players in towards this skillset because it is a more consistent job. If nobody is placing bounties, they can still do their job and earn money.

I actually really like this idea.

I'm loving screwed right now.
My PC decided to die on me today.  Unknowingly, its heat-sink broke earlier today somehow and not long after, the processor got overheated and failed.

I'm going to get a new heat-sink (maybe processor too) in a few days, so progress will be delayed until then. :/

You think I loving want to lose weeks of progress?

I sincerely hope for the sake of this mod the HDD didn't get corrupted because when I tried to hook it up to another PC it was not recognized as a drive you could open.
