why do people hate blockland for it's community?

you guys don't realize that the 'community' you know is the same 50 or so people that constantly post on the forums. go join some 5 player count servers and you'll learn that what people say about the community (the forums aren't the community) is mostly true.
like I said, you're thinking of what you think is the community; the forums. most people that play the game are 9 to 11, and that's why whenever you see a new player come to the forums, they are most of the time not too intelligent and the richards of the forums make fun of them and them they go and forum Self Delete.

ingame isn't bad. forums can be bad sometimes when you have so many posters desperate for attention that they make drama topics about anything.

General Discussion isn't bad, the Add-Ons posted here are pretty neat in terms of design, Off-Topic get's too off-topic sometimes, Community Projects can get silly, and Drama is your standard crooked child.

If you can remember all that and go around without looking like a complete fool you'll fit in fine.

the average blockland server is run by kids (i dont say this condescendingly) who have near no experience taking care of anything, and dont have much common sense, leading to less than desirable quality
the forum is pretty much a blog for all the oddballs of the world.. it seems that more mature players dont bother with the forums because its like coming back to middle school on the forums



to sum it up, older more experienced and mature players see what kind of audience blockland holds and then either dont play or dont bother submitting anything to the community (for lack of a better word).. at least thats what i see

The only types of servers where you'll come across really young kids like age 7-11 are in RP's of any sort basically. I know a lot of our younger players are immature, but there are many nice ones who aren't bad at all. A lot of them can build well and event too. I wish I was here before v21 though, since everyone says those days were better.

I just loved the maps. They let you rely on pre-made content to start building from, rather than an endless expanse of flat flatty flatness, in all directions. *Sigh*
