Pretty much just the normal, default disappear event except it's instant, so without the fade.
This sounds very simple to me, but I'm not a modder :|
Scrap that then.

The only way to archieve this is to delete the brick.

Mostly details, a trapdoor fading away looks silly, and it's nice to be able to match bricks with the instant-ness of the default doors.

there must be some other way, possibly fake killing with large numbers so it appears to disappear fast, or possibly utilizing culling somehow?

A cheap way around this for now is to put a transparent lid over the trap door. Having a transparent brick over a brick that is disappearing makes it look as if it's vanished instantly. Only problem is you'll have a brick that is slightly noticeable above/below all your trap doors unless you use invisible paint.
