Author Topic: Does Microsoft still own the rights to XP?  (Read 2193 times)

xp looks ugly imo

but that's probably from having a Vista as my first computer

isn't kearn an extremist when it comes to politics though

if interpreting the constitution as it was intended to be interpreted in the time period it was written is extremist then yes

xp looks ugly imo

xp is 12 years old, that was back when people cared about how easy to use the system was before its appearance

I still think windows 8 is just windows 7 minus a start button, some big giant boxes that are step backwards from the normal desktop, and some so called performance improvements that could be added to windows 7. However it just suffers from the every other Windows operating system syndrome. Just like Windows 95, ME, and Vista.

Now I will watch as some butthurt person tells me what an I idiot I am for liking my opinion.

Kearn needs to learn that his opinions aren't facts.
kearn's opinion = objective fact

obviously
I'm not defending Kearn, but are you two any different? You seem to want prove something to Kearn like it is a fact.

hey maybe you guys have a hard time understanding but i'm sure you'd choose xp in a heartbeat if your choices were 95, 98, or xp

Yes, Windows XP is tried-and-true, but why are the two other options older operating systems? Of course people would prefer XP to them.

Whether or not XP is better, or at the very least comparable to newer operating systems is pretty much subjective.

xp is 12 years old, that was back when people cared about how easy to use the system was before its appearance

So you're attacking people like a rabid monkey over a matter of appearance?

what? it's not ancient, it functions perfectly fine with modern software and it obviously isn't history because it's still the second most popular version of windows

xp was a sleek operating system along with its predecessor 2000

98 and 95 came before those two, 98 was pretty bad and 95 was okay

oh look, the knight in shining armor drops yet another incoherent post

yet another dummy jumps on the bandwagon

hey maybe you guys have a hard time understanding but i'm sure you'd choose xp in a heartbeat if your choices were 95, 98, or xp no stuff you would because it's the only one that is still somewhat supported
direct x 10 and 11 would like to have a word with you

i'm sure you'd choose xp in a heartbeat if your choices were 95, 98, or xp
of course i would choose xp simply because it's the latest of the three and is therefore more advanced

the point being that it was far better than its predecessors? people are bashing it incoherently because it's as old as them without actually providing any reasoning behind it aside from "slow" which is easily attributable to the out-of-date hardware of the era

you can put xp on any modern hardware and it will function fine

So you're attacking people like a rabid monkey over a matter of appearance?

what? i've been calm the entire time

i only mentioned appearance because xp obviously doesn't have a sleek UI because it was intended to be more utilitarian and focus on ease of access than looking pretty

direct x 10 and 11 would like to have a word with you

directx 10 was shipped half a decade after xp was released, and directx 11 was 8 years later

of course i would choose xp simply because it's the latest of the three and is therefore more advanced

and you'd choose it because it wasn't worse than its predecessors

vista was worse than xp when it came out, the security features and hardware requirements were so overbearing it became impractical to use the OS for a while until they fixed enough of the problems to make it usable

i skipped from xp to windows 7 because vista was a piece of trash

I wouldn't use XP today. Since it is not supported anymore that means all the hackers have probably found all the security exploits for there malware.

xp is still getting security patches until april 8 2014

Also I think that directx is evil and that opengl might be the way to go.

I agree with him, but he's acting like his word is the law.

Searching for things on XP was a pain in the ass. I loathed using XP.

you must have not used windows 95 or 98 then

xp was incredibly simple to use to look for stuff

windows 7 and vista do the exact same thing, they just prettied it up and made it even more straightforward

i try not to, but this doesn't even seem like it's up for debate since XP was such a stable and versatile OS

I don't recall XP having an Index for searching like vista and windows 7 did, which made searching for files a lot faster than without an index.

The versatility of XP is slowly falling apart due to it being an aging OS and that support will be dropped for it in 2014.

Was.

Used to be.

At the time.

Someone needs to learn how to move on.

The Indexing Service has also been integrated into the operating system and the search pane built into Explorer allows searching files indexed by its database.

but the fact that it's still a viable operating system 12 years after its release is a credit to its adaptability
