Author Topic: Does Microsoft still own the rights to XP?  (Read 2187 times)

They've discontinued all support, and stopped selling it... When companies do this with software, does that make downloading it for free legal or not? They have a VM that you can DL from their site, just not a full .iso.

Of course they do, Why would you think otherwise?

Of course they still own the rights.

They still own the rights to it, and aren't distributing it or selling it anymore because it is so old and outdated. It wasn't a good operating system to start out with.

yes it was, you're dumb

yes it was, you're dumb

I mean for the time it was, but even so, it was so slow and wasn't functional. I owned XP and the older versions of Mac OS X for a long time, I always tried to avoid my PC with XP when I was younger.

XP wasn't too great in my opinion, really.

OT: Why wouldn't Microsoft own the rights? Just because they stopped selling it doesn't mean they don't have the rights to it.

i don't think you guys understand what you're talking about, xp was the best operating system of its time and is still in widespread use more than a decade later

just because your computer hardware was awful doesn't mean the os was awful

I really liked XP's overall appearance theme but I agree it was slow

It was advanced for the time, but now it is ancient and just history.

what? it's not ancient, it functions perfectly fine with modern software and it obviously isn't history because it's still the second most popular version of windows

xp was a sleek operating system along with its predecessor 2000

98 and 95 came before those two, 98 was pretty bad and 95 was okay

babble

oh look, the knight in shining armor drops yet another incoherent post

Kearn needs to learn that his opinions aren't facts.

yet another dummy jumps on the bandwagon

hey maybe you guys have a hard time understanding but i'm sure you'd choose xp in a heartbeat if your choices were 95, 98, or xp
