Author Topic: Pacnet2013's Randomizer DM - v4 is up!, new weps + spawn in middle of round  (Read 2728 times)



v4 is up right now. Tons of more weapons are added plus you can spawn in the middle of the round

Suggest improvements and submit maps (default bricks, modTerrain and legacy doors)

What is a Randomizer DM?
A randomizer DM is a deathmatch in which you get random weapons and have to try and earn the most points you can in a round to be the winner of that round. In this server, you get two random weapons. There is a predetermined list of weapons to be randomized in a global variable array setup. A getRandom(); is performed to get an id, and it returns a element from the global variable array setup. Then a nameToId is performed and the player is given that item. It does this twice.


How random is it?
It is not extremely random because first and foremost, I limited the items allowed in the randomizer. Other than that, it uses torque's pseudo random number generator algorithm. It's not cryptographically random generator, but it works.



What is the map cycler?
The MapCycler in this Randomizer DM gamemode is just a rip of SpeedKart's map cycler. The maps  (or builds if you prefer) are actually, just zips that are called SpeedKart_mapname... such as SpeedKart_Shipyard. It goes through a cycle of eight rounds, four minutes per round, and after 8 rounds each time it changes to the next map

I went onto Pacnet2013's server to see how good the hosting is, I had 200 latency (pretty average for me) with around 10-15 players all spamming projectiles. Very nice.

That urban TDM map looks maptastic. In other words, I like it a lot. I think that you used perfect maps for this DM, they're all fitting for a type of server like this.

some of the maps are huge and honestly favors people who have better computers than others. randomizer dm's don't need that large maps.

Oh well, its a quote and I did say it..

Having just two random weapons isn't really enough. You are too likely to get bad weapons, where as in Nickel's there was a lot more chance to get a decent gun.

How many weapons do you suggest? Vote in the poll. The option which is most voted is the one I will use in the next version of Randomizer DM.

a dump of a server. builds are badly edited and you cant spawn in the middle of a round- you have to wait until someone gets 20 points, and when everyone just dies instantly due to flood, it takes a long time.

In the next update, the water will be gone and the build with broken spawning will be fixed.

I can't build well. Make maps and give them to me and once there are more I will replace the default builds. There are already three non-default builds but I wish I had more.

Explain why the build I edited is badly edited. Only one of them is "edited". I tried my best to utilize default bricks in the builds.

I'll make it 15 points because I honestly don't know what people want, someone just suggested it.
