Dear everyone;
Clearly you have never had a build stolen from you. The process of putting up a server is pretty long. Step one is of course the build, which can, in some cases, take ages. When you are done, and can finally start hosting, this feels statisfying. If someone comes in and saves your build, only to host it on his server with the same gameplay, that's just him being a lazy forget and 'skipping' across the hardest step, which also happens to be a core part of the game. Also, stop using 'lel badspot said it' as an excuse. You can't just take the one reply and use it as a waterproof argument against anything just because Badspot said it. Saving someone's build is fine on it's own, loading it up in your own game and walking around it is what server-saving was made for. being able to explore other people's builds. Exploring =/= exploiting. Hosting someone's build is a richard move, even if the president of the US said it's legal, it doesn't make the person doing it any less of a richard.

Also, about the 'it's just a lego game calm your tits lol immature people I am so above you all I'm so mature hmmm egotriiiip', that should just be classified as a dismissive comment, and it should get you banned. All you are doing is telling people to forget off because it's 'just' a game. I'm going to quote Subpixel (Zapk) here and say 'That's like lighting a kid's playground on fire and saying "It was only a playground."'

I think there should be a mod where you need to be a certain admin level (adjustable) to save a server's build.

I don't think I could have said this better myself. I couldn't say this myself, I thank you for standing up in something just that I believe in, regardless of the other people bandwagoning to not get flamed by their friends for having a different opinion, you're character is truly unique to you.

It's just that we'd get banned from the master server if we did that, but, it's not like you are permanently preventing people from saving your maps if you do, just regular players you don't know nor trust yet.

Yeah, the mod would be crap-onned and anyone who ran it would be blacklisted from having their server show up in multiplayer.
While I agree that having a build stolen (i.e. no credit given) angers me, if he gives credit I have no trouble with it. I'd have my name hidden in the build somewhere so that if he tried to use it vanilla people would know who REALLY made it.
Also since he decided to use an unfinished version yours will obviously be superior once complete.
I agree that his "client side save deleter" was making up bullstuff to try to make you not mad at him.

Honestly, I always thought the way everyone in this thread does, until it happened to me on a pretty significant build. It gives you this unique crappy feeling inside that you don't wish upon anyone.

Noedit: While it's against the rules to break saving, there are more fun alternatives. Most of the time I event really insignificant bricks that are just part of the wall or some other boring area to spawn a rocket launcher, make all 'light1' bricks explode with tank shells at 2.0, stuff like that. never got to use it, thankfully. You can get creative in making sure your build won't be stolen.

On a side note, the problem with this forum is is that a very large amount of blockland users don't use the forums, and therefor won't see a gallery thread. of course, it's always handy to make one so you can link to it in case someone wonders.

How about just a notification/chat message that tells you when someone saves it.

And also, there's actually a client-sided mod that adds a delete button to your save/load menu.

first of all, many great servers are never re-hosted
take many dogfights back in v12ish ages, take Nicolas's Randomizer DM which i can now never find in the server list, and many others.
because of this, i think its pretty reasonable to host someone elses build
and i dont see how its a richard move as long as you give credit to the original builder
your argument is "its a richard move" because YOU think its a richard move, I dont think so, I personally wouldn't be mad if someone hosted my build

I really don't mind if the original build is long since not being hosted anymore. It's stuff like Tezuni did with Zapk, where he creates competition with the competition's own build.
