Author Topic: What can I do to improve my drawings?  (Read 8012 times)

TBH you should just ignore my post. I've never actually spoken with you before, and it was mostly meant for Taboo because of that. I don't like to judge based off the opinions of others.
Well, you're right regardless. I do act like a jerk to people sometimes, i'm not a saint.
I try to strive for improvement.

So thanks for a slap to the cheek, i needed one.

hey forget you it's an unwritten contest. there's plenty of criticism given on there.

and the way you're acting to opposing viewpoints sorta shows that even if we gave you constructive criticism you would ignore our negative viewpoints, but i'm going to forget my petty grudge and i'll give you some honest criticism

the shadows are very nice and high quality and it does actually look like skin. the shadows are very fluid and feel natural and the eyes are very nice looking- i especially like the light around the tear glands, looks very realistic. the shadow on the top of the forehead is a little jagged on the right side and doesn't translate well to the hair. the snow is a nice effect. my main complaint about it is the hair. it seems very low quality compared to the rest of it, and not necessary the structure of the hair, to say. it's definitely hair, it falls like hair and the strands feel like they have some life to them but they seem less out of focus compared to the rest of the body. a good example of it are the strands falling onto the face- they really clash. if the hair is supposed to be out of focus and draw attention to the face that would be all good but the strands falling onto the face should then not be out of focus. remember; hair is incredibly thin, so each strand should be done with the finest line.

i said the hair looked fine but i'm going to let it slide it's odd and unrealistic shape because it's an alien species. other than that add color and it'll be fine

there you go

Thanks, it took me a long time to do the pores and skin texture, I thought I could get away with being sloppy on the hair since the eyes and the crystal were the focal point. Most of it is because I'm bad with hair anyways, but I try lol. Right now I'm studying color because I have never done serious colored work, so my color logic is really binary, it's like trying to learn a new language for me tbh. It comes easy for most though.

Off-Topic: Well, I'm going to be serious as forget right now. I do not think I'm good or bad, it's not up to me to make political evaluations of myself.

This is exactly why when applying to be a concept artist you must have a portfolio, you can't just say "I'm good" after showing him one picture. It's not for you to decide.

So, endpoint, I was not fishing for compliments I was genuinely asking for advice because I did struggle with it. Just because you think someone is a great artist it does not make them infallible and beyond mistakes. Which translates into me fishing for compliments, which I am most definitely not.

The most successful people have also failed the most in life.

you know after reviewing the OP, woolys might've acted a little condescending but i think we're being a little quick to judge about the whole compliment fishing thing. he just said it took him 3 hours and he'd like some feedback, i've done the same thing 20+ times in creativity and i never get stuff for it.

if you are compliment fishing though, whatever.

+20 Respect points, thanks

it's exactly what he did on his old account too, except back then nobody was willing to give him any compliments; leading to his downward spiral into being banned

That doesn't affect the core issue that you did not have to make your own thread for this and lacked the logic to realize that.

Considering they're habitual jerks, why don't you just ban them? It's habitual, it's always there. They don't change. Where ever they go they're jerks. What qualifies this as almost bannable compared to what they do on a regular basis.

You think I'm going out of my way to flame you? Badspot brought you up and I agreed. You're just a richard, Tab. Don't flatter yourself.

If you dont get banned for this post right after Badspot let you slide I can conclude either of the following:

A. Badspot dislikes me and doesn't want to make me happy by banning you

B. He really likes you and is giving you immortality because you're entertaining

C. You're just using Badspot as a tool because you believe B is true

D. All of the above

or badspot doesn't want to ban him because he doesn't want to?

Or maybe because he didn't break any rules as far as I can tell?

or badspot doesn't want to ban him because he doesn't want to?

He said I was blatantly bragging and that's why he is not banning them.

Which in-turn means he is not banning them because of my existence.

This proves A

maybe he doesn't want to ban him

no, it means that had this been a legitimate thread seeking feedback rather than attention, they would have been banned

more to do with your actions, less with your existence

i don't know art, but that is amazing.

What makes you think I'm bragging? Tell me exactly how I'm bragging, I seriously want to know.
