press button and look up at the catwalk (that is, if you can).

look up at the catwalk (that is, if you can).

you turn your attention away from the light you were so fixated upon to further examine the catwalks
however, you were so fixated upon that beacon of hope for a world outside this that you neglected to pay attention to the sounds
you turn and look at the doorway, coming face-to-face with a nightmarish creature

its clouded optics glare menacingly at you; you watch as makeshift parts shift and adjust as the being moves its head to survey you
signals jolt to your legs, pleading for you to run, but you find yourself rooted in sheer horror by what has presented itself to you
the creature approaches you; what could have been a growl emits from a vocalizer that sings a song of long disuse

at last you find your motor skills returning, leading you to back away from the being
as if being guided by the angelic light casting down on you from so far away you begin to back up the stairway
the creature follows you, its optics steadily scanning you as if to determine whether or not you're a threat to its life
a shaky hand comes up to rest upon the button attached to your chest but you're too shaken with fear to feel relief

fight or flight?

Extend a hand to it, show it that you're friendly
and then curl up into a ball

run like the wind bullseye

you feel conflicted
your instincts tell you to flee, but something within you is urging you to make an effort to befriend the creature
as it steps closer to you, you settle on the decision that the first thought in your mind will be your action

Push Button

you push the button-

click-

the creature seems alarmed by the noise and lunges for you, clawed hand extended in a grasp that could only have negative intentions.

punch it

you throw your fist at it wildly in an attempt to injure the creature
aiming for the head, you lean past the reaching arm and make solid contact
the force of the blow sends a jarring jolt of pain up your arm and into your shoulder

the creature rears its head and shrieks at you, spitting discolored fluid onto your face
you stumble back in surprise and frantically try to wipe the spit off your optic
once it's clean it is very apparent that your blow did next to nothing in terms of damaging the beast
