Author Topic: What's a game or program I should make?  (Read 4807 times)

The Ludum Dare is coming up, maybe you can make something for that.

Kind of already have one. RTB?
thats not accessible outside of RTB. and the old RTB IRC was just a channel on some other irc service

If you use RTB as anyhting other than a friend's list and an add-on downloader, you're a nut. The public IRC room is so awful.

Then what makes you think that a Blockland IRC will be better? Same community.

a co-op horror game.

the indie game industry is seriously lacking in that department

There's actually a legitimate reason for that. While it could be fun in the right experiences (Dead Space 3, for example), there's a problem. Dead Space in general is actually a good example, as well as Amnesia and such games.

They're so scary because you're ALONE. Amnesia terrifies you because you're in this dark, decrepit castle being hunted by God's know what, and you have no one to help you, no one to talk to, no one to keep you sane.

The first two Dead Space games were terrifying because there were either very few, or quite often no people that were in any condition to talk, let alone help. They were pretty damn scary. Dead Space 3 I can barely consider a horror game because there are so many other people. It's almost just another shooter with super zombies. But that's just the horror element. The rest of the game is great.

Why not make a better one? Then profit off of it? Then threaten RTB to give their servers to you or you'll take them down?

No. It would be exclusively the people that read this thread and downloaded it, not every schmuck who has RTB.

And I agree with this.

As long as I get my sandwich program.

And what makes you think the people who find this thread won't act the same as they do anywhere else where they have a chat client and anonymity?

.....Are.. Are you trying to make a funny?

Because that doesn't look like a funny.

>anonymity

>IRC

lolno. IRC displays your IP upon connecting, unless your ISP allows cloaking or you use your own service, which i doubt anyone does anymore

And what makes you think the people who find this thread won't act the same as they do anywhere else where they have a chat client and anonymity?
The hell? I don't think anyone of even substandard intelligence uses the RTB GD. And you're not at all anonymous on an IRC channel.

I think that you should make a simple image uploading program.

Learn DirectX and OpenGL for C++ then develop some 3D game. Without them you're not going to be doing much work with C++. I would suggest learning C# also if you want to develop applications/web.
I KNOW the languages already, and I've worked with openGL.
I've also made multiplayer games before (client and server) and have a VPS I could host the server on.
I think that you should make a simple image uploading program.
That already exists?
You can make an IRC client & server. It's small and simple if you know what you're doing and you have the protocol information.
I wanted to make something useful.

doesn't work like that

Anonymous in the sense that no one knows who you really are.

We're all anonymous.

Unless you feel like forking over every personal detail.

But I'm just saying, it'll probably be just as bad.

.....Are.. Are you trying to make a funny?

Because that doesn't look like a funny.

What's so funny in legitimate business? Why not make a similar 'product' that is better overall and make actual money off of it, then take down your competitors? Sure it's easier said than done, but it can still work.
