Author Topic: highschool/college sports megathread - its that time of year  (Read 3042 times)

so schools starting up and sports are getting out of the offseason, aka best time of the year forget yes. so talk about what sports you play, what you want to play or what you like to watch (gayyy). highschool or college, and if its college post what school, especially if its a big one!

right now footballs been about three weeks out of the offseason. i loving love football, seriously if there is one sport you should try out for, its football. a lot of people blow up the amount of injuries that happen in highschool fb, but honestly its not that hard to avoid them if you know what youre doing and go hard. and there is a position for EVERYBODY. if you run cross country but think you are way too skinny, play receiver, if youre fast and can catch, you'll be a great wide player. if you think you are too fat, forget it man play lineman. if you weigh 300 lbs, know what to do and go hard, you'll loving wreck the guy across from you.

personally im kind of dissapointed in our team. we had 70+ guys sign up, only about 10 of those guys on average showed up to offseasons, we had about 30+ at the start of practices, and now we have 19 guys. thats barely a team, we've pulled up to sophmores because we barely had a line. butt we have some good players, and we go hard.  i play receiver and defensive back, i start on offense and all the special teams and sort of start on defense.

so lets hear it forums whats going on in your sports life?

I'm the head quarter back of my high school all time jock team with over 300 confirmed kills and have 20+ women line up at my door after every game

Played football in 8th grade, I gave all sports up because most of them are filled with friends, and I hate playing any game with starfishs, like is games like call of duty on the Xbox, it's stupid and I would play if we had better people with better attitudes, sadly, I don't like football because of that, ruins my time, so why spend it, and baseball, soccer is dumb IMO.

Wrestling is kind of gay too, the only thing I do actually enjoy is boxing, idk if that's a thing where any of you live, but there's a boxing place in my town ages 13-18, I love It and I do it during spring every Saturday and Tuesday.

i feel the same way sometimes, there are some people that have stuffty attitudes on our team (not to mention the 50 guys that are missing). and other teams have players with stuffty attitudes. but in football its so satisfying because if that little forget across the line is talking stuff then you can just lay him out that play, put him on the ground for a few seconds. and if he trys to start a fight, awesome lol, they just got someone pulled out of the game. i play football because i love it, playing under the lights and when you like catch a REALLY good pass or make an awesome tackle, feels great man.

For some reason I feel that most sports players are unintelligent. No offense.

lol I did riflery in 9th grade

Yeah, that's one way, but I mean, I have people on my football team that are huge richard bags and mouth breathers, but if you mean practice, then ok.

Yeah, I noticed this too, probably because most sports players spend all their time playing sports and going on Facebook talking about sports and barely makes good grades(which is ironic for me :( ).

this is dumb, all sports still require like a serious amount of intelligence. most people just think sports like football are "oh fat guys hitt each other popular guy throws ball to guys who just run down the field". no, every move and every play is planned and perfected. you dont just go out there and get concussions, every position is just as complicated as the next (save for maybe linemen because they aren't getting the ball).

for example, for our team for recievers, there are about 10 common run plays we have to recognize and be able to execute with perfection without even like thinking about it. then there are about 6-7 more that are less common but even more complicated and have to be executed just as well. then there are about 7 positions we have to memorize to run those plays out of. then there are RUN plays, in which we dont get the ball but we still have to know who to block, and where.

and then there is defence and special teams and honestly i could spend all night explaining these to you. bottom line is, thats a bad assumption. i mean i guess because most of the smart kids/nerds/geeks and whatnot dont play sports, and everyone else (including the dumb kids) do. they also dont do as well in practice and might not end up on the team, seeing as most schools require you to have a C or higher to play a sport.

Varsity Swimming

Fastest growing sport in the US.

yes

people just watch too much high school dramas/reality shows and think that football players are downright stupid

Nothing. I might attend Archery every now and again because the folks there would kill me otherwise, but I'm already pretty much in my desired college so I'm not going to bother myself with anything else beyond what I need to graduate.

Marching band~

I think it should be counted as physical exercise if not a sport. People that aren't in marching band tend to think it's not difficult for some reason, as if learning precise movements with a specific number of steps and direction while staying in formation and in rhythm isn't a challenge. That is while playing loudly which requires a lot of air and keeping your horn at a certain angle and facing forward always.

As for an actual "sport", I play basketball and soccer on occasion, but not on a team. I also enjoy archery.

I played football against the 7th graders today at my middle school and I won. My middle school basketball team is going to tricity/tristate.
