actually it does take a lot of land to raise free range cattle and stuff. as in like we couldnt produce the same amount of meat we do now with free range animals

that's because they think death is better for animals than being alive with humans. I'm being serious, that's really what they think. in fact I'm pretty sure one of their major hopes/dreams/goals is for all pets to die
preaching to the choir.
just waiting for the day when technology can give us a real meaningful look into the minds of animals, and all the pets would be saying is "KEEP GIVING US FREE FOOD SHELTER AND CUDDLES"

preaching to the choir.
there are people here who don't know about it I'm sure

Omnivores, omnivores everywhere.

also another fun note; during the progression point in human history where people began large scale farming operations and moved away from a hunter/gatherer mentality, it was actually a horrific time to be alive. h/g's had been at it and proficient at it for thousands of years, and had maintained a good diet for most of that time, whereas when we started grain operations, is basically when the pestilence of cities came around. so basically omnivores still had the 1-up on the more "vegetarian" eaters who were just starting up.

Having never eaten meat there's a couple reasons I don't eat meat:
You put it way too many calories in feed for the amount you get out in meat.
Stomachs don't like sudden, drastic shifts in diet.
Takes too much land to raise even free-range meat.
-100% respect for you. Stop being a handicap and eat meat.

I'm a vegetarian and there's nothing wrong with it - you still eat dairy and egg products. I'd rather be a vegetarian because I don't like eating dead animals and people killing them just to be eaten. I am perfectly healthy and I don't need to eat meat, nor do I want to. I completely disagree with the article due to the fact that the reasons they counter are ridiculous. They don't promote the actual reasons being a vegetarian is good.

You don't need to eat meat to get sufficient protein. People are obviously getting mistaken here. I have the benefit of Indian parents and most of our food contains pure protein.

an egg is a dead bird fetus

the eggs you eat aren't fertilized :I

Yes. I'm not sure anyone would eat an egg with a dead chick inside.

I'm not even sure how this is supposed to be an argument.
It might be valid if coming up with the amount of feed necessary was a problem, but it's not.

You could also make the same argument about plants; that they take in way much more energy in sunlight than they output when being eaten. What would you suppose we do to that, inject chloroplasts into our cells?

It's a very stupid point.

Energy isn't going to be conserved in any organism to a massive extent.

Animals have to respire and move and do metabolic processes.
The energy you put in to them goes into growth, alongside those factors.
If it didn't go into those factors, the animal would die and you wouldn't eat it at all.

Irishbandits points are all stuff.

There's plenty of land on the planet for breeding animals. I live in the countryside in England and approx 95% of all land here is used for fields.
Not all of those are used as farms for livestock or plants either.
Just because cheap farms in South America and Africa are cutting down rainforests to breed livestock doesn't mean those are the only locations we could breed them.

Who knows what the future could hold anyway. With the advent of cloning of meat, we might simply need laboratory factories to produce 100% meat.

And the point about stomachs is just stupid.
Human stomachs are designed to eat meat. We are an omnivorous species. If you fill the forgeter with beef, then it won't go down too well.
But that's the case with anything.

Vegetarains just annoy me.
If they're being served meat, they'd choose not to eat anything rather than just eat the dam meat.
I mean, it's already been loving killed, but because of you, it's dying in vain.
Great job captain planet.

I'm a vegetarian and I think it's pretty cool yo

It's foolish. Eat meat.
