Author Topic: Can I get some criticisms and suggestions for my new LP video?  (Read 1292 times)

So, I started my first Let's Play series and I'm using a capture device with my television.

Can I get some suggestions with my commentary and video quality? I know I should have not done the green screen at the beginning, but how should I fix problems such as the picture... flickering when a chat message shows up. I won't mind if you guys are very harsh with your criticisms, it's my first video with a capture device ever and I wanna fix stuff.

Your commentary was fine. The video length was a bit daunting though. Also the game didn't interest me personally, although I enjoy other games in the series.

bad microphone/background static
lower the game volume
quality is poor 480p
the parts that arent interesting, cut them out?
me and freek made a video and this might be a decent reference.

Ok, gotcha. I just wanna say, I can only record this series with composite cables, so it's not gonna be great 480p but I'll try harder.

Thanks, but yeah the video length will be shortened. Just started it so I decided to explain a lot of stuff. And yeah, Mother 1 is not a fan favorite but I love it.

I actually liked this a lot, your voice was very clear, and you were straight-up. I think it was fairly alright, but it was too long.

yeah, the length will be shortened for next time.

Make the game volume lower

I too would suggest making your videos shorter

10 minutes is a pretty good benchmark

15 minutes is a pretty good benchmark

I honestly think that 20 minutes it a good video length... Maybe keep it at 10 at first and then when more people start watching and liking your videos bump it up to 20.

yeah this

you don't want to overwhelm new watchers

it's not
no offence but that was extremely boring
i stopped watching about half way through because it was you guys hardly saying anything and just smondaying at things that just aren't that funny
also the music in that was too loud to
like i said, no offence intended to you or freek personally but it's just not a good video :v

to op: i suggest using this - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqeG2ZiN_6A
i personally enjoy longer videos, but i also like the idea of ramping videos up
it does feel slightly (to me anyway) when youtubers do lots of shorter videos they're just making tons of them for extra views but i think 20/30 mins is fine
you sound confident and you don't seem to be shying away, keep that up

honestly the best advice to a new youtuber is to just make TONS of videos and post them places. if you play games that have forums post the videos on the forums. keep at it and you'll do fine. :)

Wow, thanks for those words! I'm getting a lot of confidence from this. :)
