Why is that after all these years lego still can't make a game based around... oh I don't know.. building things? They seem to have moved away from the big buckets of bricks towards tiny sets that use fewer and fewer bricks each year. Heck none the stuff in their animated series isn't made out of lego bricks. It's like a world of lego minifigures without the lego.

I know right? I've been thinking the same for awhile too. LEGO constantly focuses on RPG's because it's the quickest way for them to make money without losing profits. MMORPG's become really addicting.

Well there's a damn disappointment.

So it's just Lego Universe take two?

So it's just Lego Universe take two?

Yes, and from what I've heard (and hopefully true) they will be taking a different approach that will attract more attention.

But here's the problems with the Lego games that have been released/are being released.

There's no loving construction. Lego Universe almost had it going on, but it didn't feel like building was an integral part of the game.

All you see is this "quickbuild" garbage. There's no creativity there. So what's the point in playing a game based on toys that are supposed to be based on creativity and ingenuity?

Plus, I don't want to be limited to playing as a set selection of characters for something like a LEGO game.

I'm glad that the online Lego experience is making a comeback, and I've been anticipating a teaser of this sort for a while now, but I really hope that they add these two things:

Customization, and creativity.

Because that's everything that LEGO stands for.

this looks like all of the console lego games (harry potter, indiana jones, star wars) except massive and multiplayer and with more ridiculous character attacks

which i guess is cool

Lego was a lot better back on it's classic days, even the games, remember Lego Island, Racers, Creator and others? Yes they were great, Lego really should step back to it's original style instead of copyrighted lego sets from movies, comics and cartoons.

Lego Creator was the greatest thing ever when it came out. I got it for like a dollar somehow and it entertained me for mooonths. xD

Does anyone else remember the first trailer for LEGO Universe?
Seeing the minifigures build all of those things makes me think how epic a LEGO game would be if they had some sort of first person free building mechanic using motion controls, where you could point at an area and create platforms, vehicles etc.
LEGO are playing it too safe by making generic MMOs and 3D Platformer after 3D Platformer. I'd love to see a licensed LEGO game with new ideas instead of the same average experience they usually deliver.

this needs to be some kind of like, third person shoulder type view.
